Hi Prospero,
Please put me down as a definite maybe for the Sunday picnic .... ^
I may do a day return from Cork (135 Euros return !!! ) arr 0930 and depart (wobbling all the way ) 2000 ..... Or if my potential job comes thru, I may even stay over on Sun night for some bad behaviour after the picnic !!

Wow! what a response ^ but then Edinburgh does sells itself very well.
I shall compile an info pack containing the essential whats-on and things to do for the weekend. Hopefully this should help those not familiar with the city in orientating themselves and plan some side activity - take in the sights and a bit of culture or whatever tickles the fancy.
Priority is to make the Cramond Island picnic work for everyone. Access is at the mercy of the tides (lets keep weather out of the equation at this stage ) and would you believe it, one of our brethren has sent me the tidal information for May 12 and 13. Where else but FT would we find someone with the high/low tide data for 2007 at her fingertips? Anyway, access to the island would be range from around 2pm to 8pm on Sunday and about an hour earlier on Saturday. So, as the Sunday picnic looks feasible so lets proceed on that basis.
For those needing to return to the airport on Sunday afternoon/early evening, the picnic is still possible. Cramond is about 15 minutes away from the terminal by taxi.

What an excellent idea
I'm hopeful of being able to attend at least part of the Do, and ideally both the main events, though can't be 100% certain at this stage. I'll leave it up to you which list I get added to

I''m in. ^ Staying at Playa des Irlandes :-: :-: :-: :-: :-:
We should twin the Cramond Island p!ssup with krug's Britannia skite. It's a pity that the old girl* is probably concreted to the harbour.
*Britannia, to be absolutely clear
