Received notification that BA15 to SYD via SIN on 6 Nov has been cancelled - irony is I've already moved it from March 2020 (with a change fee!!) - think I'll take the refund option vs the offer of a voucher to Apr 2022 but it may take that long to get through to the call centre...

No it doesn’t. Just be patient and wait for it to quieten down in a few days. You don’t have to call the instant you get notified.

BA have just done a large number of cancellations late last week so it's probably not surprising the call centres are a bit busier than normal.
I have just tried this number 0800 727 800.
First option is 1 to change bookings, 2 make new bookings including BA holidays and using future travel vouchers, 3 for refund enquiries, 4 anything else. I pressed 4 and was put in a queue.
Call was picked up at 9 minutes 50 seconds.

I think that is "their" cash in their own bank accounts. Yes - I agree totally. It is utterly dishonest to refuse to repay when you are not being provided with the flights for which one has paid!

BA isn’t refusing to refund. It’s actually been one of the better travel companies in that respect. Try getting money in a timely manner out of VS, easyJet or Ryanair.

Or if that's not ideal you can take a voucher to use at a later date extending your options (and 241 voucher if applicable ) into 2022

Currently if you call they will effectively open up a award seat at any time to suit your needs within the ticket validity period ie within 12 months from the original purchase date.

I'll need to have a think about what we do, it looks like it will be this time next year before tourists are allowed in and I'm not going to be able to go past March.

Just had 11 September flights to KUL cancelled. It was meant to be my honeymoon, but something of a relief really as I'm not sure I'm even allowed into Malaysia at the moment and certainly not without a 14 day quarantine.
30 minutes on hold to the US line and refund now being processed.
I can only speak for Easyjet as I avoid Ryanair like the plague and don't happen to have had any flights with VS, but Easyjet were far better than BA when I had a cancelled flight last month. All doable online, had to go through a few steps, but no hours on hold or tricky refund turning out to mean voucher type options. They also offered an option to rebook onto any European flight at no additional cost, which is rather better than a voucher.

LIYZLG welcome to FlyerTalk and to the British Airways branch in particular, it always a pleasure to see new members join in the discussions. I hope you stay around.
BA has been doing pretty well with processing refunds, my kids were booked on a Finnair flight (also to BKK as it happens) and I've had enormous difficulty trying to get a refund. It took 2 weeks to get the phone to answer, they said their flight had not been cancelled but 're-timed' to leave 48 hours later! Eventually I managed to get them to accept their flight had been cancelled and they said they would refund the fare. We are now more than 3 months further on (my children should have returned home by now) and still no refund has been received from Finnar.
Another of my BA SIN flights was cancelled this week, I called BA on Saturday and this morning the refund was showing in my Amex account. Once you do get through the refund will be very prompt.
Again, welcome to FlyerTalk
