LIN is a strange one given its close proximity to the city compared to MXP. Latest flight is 3pm too which means a whole day off work rather than just the afternoon

BA just canceled a few LHR-TXL rotations in September, e.g. the ~6PM departure BA988. The evening flight has been canceled for ages and the few occurrences I've seen it in September and October it now seems to be gone as well.
The last flight leaving LHR for TXL is now BA986 typically leaving 15:35

Strange as just returned DUS-LHR on Eurowings after today’s BA flight cancelled for the same reason
EW was approx 80% full

The cynic in me wonders if this advertising by BA of multiple flights and frequencies being available 2-3 months out and creating an impression of "we're getting back to normal" is to encourage booking, only to then cancel a high proportion of rotations later on and rely on a high number accepting a future voucher. Given they have removed the near instant "Refund" button on MMB and you now have to specifically phone up and wait up to 28 days for the refund it certainly is a great way to generate some short term cash.
Even more cash to hold onto if a good number of pax do accept an FTV rather than the faff of phoning and waiting in a queue for a refund
Maybe I am being too cynical, surely this would not be deliberate?

I partly agree but with slightly less cynicism. I don’t think BA is desperate enough for cashflow that they’d give themselves the hassle and cost (in terms of both manpower and processing fees) of administering sale and refund for journeys they never intended to fly. I do, however, think that they set an ambitious schedule to try to assess/stimulate demand, and when they realised it wasn’t there (or couldn’t be served profitably) they’ve cut it it again. To be honest I think I’d do the same thing in their position, it’s the only real way to know how many people are willing to fly (and how much they’ll pay to do so). Bluntly, if more people were booking, more of the schedule would stick.
