I could only see 2 people in the finnair lounge from the entrance desk.

There is the almost@home lounge at 32, and I guess their contract with BA requires them to grant access, but it doesn’t require them to have any seating. I had 1 beer (nice - self serve on tap) and left as all seating occupied. Salad buffet looked ok, but I didn’t try it. Lots of quiet space at the very end of T2 at the new gates - 53 to 55.

I understand they can’t create a lounge from thin air. Equally the prior lounges couldn’t cope with the 2 pm till 4:30 pm rush, so I hope the plans include a significant increase to lounge capacity.
with the closure of the premium lounge for now I wonder if the lounge staff have just been told to refuse access for all non AY flights?

this is pretty much what I’ve been told, but one world website does not mention (despite what the lounge staff says) that the business lounge is not available for non-AY pax - only says the premium lounge is closed.

After leveraging your collective wisdom from the TP Run thread, I have booked:

LHR HEL 02/11 1815 BA798
HEL LHR 04/11 1700 BA799

DUB LHR 10/11 0710 BA831
LHR HEL 10/11 1100 BA794
HEL LHR 11/11 1700 BA799
LHR DUB 11/11 2120 BA824

These will get me over the line for Silver, 2 months into my collection year. After flying over 25 economy segments with BA last year, the following 22 months are going to be a whole lot more comfortable

Ah that's interesting.

I happened to be flying on AY on Friday afternoon - in fact I had done a same-day change for free from a BA flight. I didn't see the A350 on any of the free change options but I was surprised that all the single-aisle AY flights were an option.

I'll be flying BA in 3 weeks when I am there next so it'll be interesting to see if they're still turning BA pax away.

I doubt all non AY as QR passengers would have nowhere to go otherwise.

I thought the Almost@Home lounge is actually the contract lounge for BA pax?

Data point for those interested: Currently in HEL, flying CE to LHR (BA ticket) and was re-directed from the AY lounge to the Almost@Home lounge.

I have no doubt the official reps will be along to welcome you to the boards. :-)

I've just hit bronze after two weeks and will hit silver in two days time. Lounge access is not to be sniffed at!

Frustrating that. I can't say I loved the Finnair lounge but they literally have the Oneworld sign outside the door!

The Finnair lounge before passport control is for status holders only, not CE, and the one after passport control is for Goldies only from what I remember seeing on the access rights. Meh

...which shows the BA logo quite clearly as per my photo in my earlier post no.89!

In the Finnair board there is comment that JAL passengers are also to be denied access and that JAL are providing shopping vouchers in compensation (presumably as there is nowhere else for them to go) https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30287542-post35.html
