Looks like BA798 is delayed today. I'm finally in CX, corner booth across noodle bar if anyone wants to say hi

Bad Flyertalk etiquette! Similarly the guy who was so desperate to get into the CX lounge this morning he pretty much shoulder-barged me out of the way coming out of the lift. I think he was on the AY flight instead.

On Saturday night gates were closed when the delayed flight landed and did not open until after 6am on the Sunday.

Turned out fine for me though as I found a great quiet bench near gate 21 to bed down on. When I woke after the best part of 5 hours uninterrupted sleep I noticed a couple of others had spotted my spot and had joined me. I obviously did not snore! :-)

Walking around waiting for lounge to open I noticed the rest of airport was quite busy and noisy. People had either avoided us or we got lucky!

By all accounts the Sleeping pods are not worth the bother and not to be recommended. I’m glad I decided to be cheap and crash on a bench.

Many thanks to all here who I met on the flight and afterwards. Great company!

Auto gates were working when we landed, but caught me out by surprise in the morning. Manned booths opened before auto gates. Last time I did overnight in HEL in Sept (sleeping in pod btw, surprisingly comfortable), auto gates were open before 5am.
This time found the new location of pods by accident while having a fag and was about to book one, but they couldn't take card payments. Wasn't bothered to walk to cashpoint and back, so settled down on bench also. Didn't check the gate number, but I think I was quite close to MrILovetheBeachClub

So who’s going this Saturday? Should be at QF around 8.30 then onto CX J for an early cocktail if anyone fancies saying hello.

I'm not doing a HEL run but happen to have a flight to LIS this Saturday so should be around from about lunch time.

Booked cheap ibis for the Friday night so will be in CX lounge for breakfast, 11am flight so probably around 8:30 to 9am to give time to chill. Have some other T3 flights in 2019 booked so will give QF and BA lounges a whirl during those trips.

Was going to get the train/tube to Heathrow in morning, but with weather getting colder, 1st train from station and being Southern trains I thought rather than end up getting panicked the hotel night makes the Saturday morning a lot simpler.

Looks like its a 12 row club flight with back two rows being exit rows, I won't be fighting people for row 1 though once availability opens up

Mr. Lefly will have his second round this weekend
He will probably pass by the CX lounge before going to the gate

I would say, go to CX for the food & then go to QF for the drinks. If you scroll up, you'll see the selection of G&T's I had downstairs. They do cocktails upstairs. I've yet to try them. From what the other FT's said above, the CX lounge was busy last Saturday.

BA 794 LHR to HEL on 24/11 - I see it is a very busy CE cabin!

BA799 HEL to LON on 25/11 - just changed my seat to row 12 for the legroom....I assume it means I am down the list of meal choices, but am willing to compromise!
