First successful b2b completed yesterday. Started off in QF lounge, which was pleasantly empty, unfortunately due to some medication wasn't able to hit gin bar. Word of caution, while eating one of those round buns taste felt bit off and got worse.
Finally turned it over and it was covered in mould (how much compensation should I ask???). Showed it to attendant who looked geniuenly mortified and came to apologise several times.
Proceeded to gate, seemed full flight, lots of bags gate checked, surprised to see BA had Finnish speaking employee dispatched (I'm not Finnish, but reasonably fluent in it). Group 1 announced, seemed to be entire plane. 12 rows of CE, I was in 11, loved that little bit of extra legroom. Catering started simultaneously front and back, so probably rows 6-7 got screwed with meal choice. Crew was lovely and helpful as usual.
Unfortunately bussed to gate in HEL, which reduced the time I had planned for shopping (where else to do Christmas shopping than in Santa's homeland), walking by AY lounge it seemed completely packed. Quick fag or two, few Finnish sweets and back to bus. 8 rows of CE this time, I dozed off while they were handing out menus so I just ordered what row in front of me did
Uneventful flight, quit quick through immigration in LHR and on to HEX. Several people in first class car, guard walked through and from what I heard I was the only one with actual first class ticket. Everybody was allowed to stay though.
No about to leave CX lounge to rinse and repeat yesterday

Mr. Lefly had four B2B, all with bus, some on time and some with delay, and everything went just fine.
So HEL is good anyway for a B2B using the bus ^
(Ok, no shopping time, but... )
Me, I'm transiting HEL late December, going to LHR on the AY morning service.

Might be worth trying the Finnair lounge in the Schengen area for future reference, but I don't have time to go through passport control twice to find out...

I was turned away from AY lounge as OWE so don’t feel picked on as OWS. I was looking forward to some salmon or something else decent in lounge but the one I got shuffled to was a bit meh (lesson learned for the next HEL jaunt)
On plus side I’m the winner of “who gets the only empty CE seat beside them” - exit row, window and aisle access (bound to end badly somehow for balance though)

Little bit late with this 1 but on my recent LHR > HEL Flight they had 12 rows of CE and 5 CC to look after it I was in 2C only got offered 1 drink on the flight had to ask for a coffee after my meal while I noticed the guy in 1A was getting offered drinks what seemed like every time CC passed he made the most of the free champagne on offer and why not, very inconsistent not really a complaint to be honest just an observation I made I can only imagine how hard it was for the CC to look after 12 rows. noticed my next flight on the 20th has only 7 rows I'm in 2A for this flight.

Ha. Just stumbled across this thread. Funny reading. Are you guys all taking these only for TP runs? I don't know much about BA but understand the HEL sector yields better TPs...
Just an AY OWE mortal here, doing LHR T3 runs at times, once or twice per year. Taking the morning AY flight to LHR, go for a football game, return back with the last AY service. The only drawback with a late afternoon match is the hurry to get back to LHR and miss the nice lounges
BTW you probably know that the lounge situation at HEL is horrible for the moment as they are renovating the AY lounges. You will be only disappointed if you expect anything there until next spring.

Just a heads up that AY will be using their A333 widebody daily starting 31MAR19 on AY1337 departing HEL 16.00 and AY1338 departing LHR 18.05. Additionally, AY will add a 6th midday frequency to LHR as well. ^

Arrived in Helsinki on BA794 yesterday; it was also my first flight on an A320NEO. Does anybody know why, when jet bridges are clearly available, BA are sent to a remote stand? I’m not complaining as walking down the stairs in -9 degrees was a good start to our Christmas holiday!
