Is it the norm, for Saturday BA flights to/from HEL, to be so busy with 12 rows of CE?

When I did it, few months ago, the last BA flight was also delayed so I arrived HEL around 00:15. I also had to pick up the carry-on, so I exited the baggage hall around 01:00. At that point, if I had booked a hotel, the sleep time would have been less than 5 hours.
The Pod was more than enough for that time, and it's basically a flat bed seat on ground. Once awake I went to the AY lounge, had a shower and a tea, and went to board my flight back to LHR (followed by LHR-JFK-PHX).
Doesnt actually sound that bad the way you report it! 😊

Can’t say that I would personally relish the LHR-JFK-PHX leg after 5 hours in a pod though 😳. I’m getting soft in my 50’s.

I've had 4 trips to HEL in the last 4 months. On each occasion I've flown in on the early BA (794) to a bus gate and flew out on the early BA (795) (the night stopper) using the air bridge to add some data.

Good morning from HEL (damp and dreary unfortunately )

I'd managed to miss the cheap fares (well, I was surprised how cheap my fare was this time round but I assumed it was due to some corporate deal). Arrived midnight last night and it's great to have the Hilton or the Scandic as an option, especially because an 8am meeting in town meant a max of 6 hours sleep - and a 4.30am UK time alarm... ugh.. At least the actual flight time last night was less than 2h30m which was excellent.

I'll check out the lounge situation later today and report back - I hadn't realised they were being "improved"

Well... Have a look at the threads on TP runs :-) I'm guessing there are a lot of B2B trips to HEL planned in the near future!

Well, my 11F pre assigned CE seat for Saturday (through checked in from tonight's last JER - LGW) has turned into 6A... I presume the curtain has moved forward a bit :-)

Without trawling through the thread is anyone staying over in HEL during their TP runs, as in outside the airport?

Also i'm going to be on the HEL-LHR 16Mar 16:55 flight in 1C so can see Mike Skyflier is on the same

OK all, so the status on the Non-Schengen lounge..

The Emerald / First Class bit is totally sealed off - you can see it to the left of the signage. The very nice lady at the entrance apologised that it was closed - but there are no capacity issues at the moment anyway.

Warning at the entrance

The main lounge is quiet at the moment (2pm on a Friday). There is no glassware and no metal cutlery (plastic glasses and cutlery instead) . I'm not sure why this is but there are apology notices in the food areas. There are 2 wraps available to eat - a chicken one and a vegetarian one, some crisps chocolate biscuits, coffee & tea, with white wine and fizz (not champagne) available for free-pour. Nobody behind the bar but there are bottles out in the main servery area as well. It's actually a nice place to be and feels a lot more spacious than the Emerald area. However there is less of a food and drink choice and of course it's going to get busier at peak hours. I've definitely been in worse lounges

The business lounge

Thurs 7th Feb LHR-HEL BA794 TWCLAM +1 ( Mrs Clam & Myself)
Sun 10th Feb HEL-LHR BA799 TWCLAM +1

( Wiki updated)

Not a TP per say as spending a few days in Helsinki. Mrs Clam refuses to do pure TP runs but the fact I have both MLA & HEL booked for early 2019 purely for the TP's they award is a step in the right direction for her and tbh I'm looking forward to seeing what Helsinki has to offer. Silver for us both will arrive in November so if anyone else is flying in or out on the same days as us and is in ET or has family extra's then please let me know and i'm happy to do the thing we aren't normally allowed to talk about in the standard meetup thread( Hope me 'not' mentioning the thing that i'm happy to do is okay, if not please edit out)
@Swadbus I see you are returning to LHR on the Sunday. Without checking flight #s / timings i'm presuming you're on the flight preceding ours. Happy to arrive at HEL early & meet up but appreciate that's not everybody's cup of tea.

That said could those of you who've flown the route advise if we are able to check-in early/ bag drop or do they tend to stick to a 2-2.5 hr rule there( obviously will OLCI but may have a hold bag)?
