Clearly not. But the sudden availability of a number of Airbus rated pilots doesn’t help him either. It does help BA and EasyJet though should they be requiring some extra pilots.

Indeed it is reported upthread that the CAA has contracted with Titan who are sub contracting with the likes of Easyjet, Transat and whoever else has capacity. This includes BA who in turn are sub contracting to QR.

Yes, my point is that EasyJet is not "providing" the rescue flights as some other entity is paying EasyJet (and other carrier through CAA etc.) to operate these flights.

Norwegian? Really?? I thought they were on to something that only the low cost airlines had a talent for turning to their advantage.

Could BA not somehow keep the Monarch brand alive and use it to run services from regional UK airports, a bit like Lufthansa did with germanwings and Eurowings?

They are providing the flights as in delivering the service.

They are not providing the flights as in footing the bill.

Out of interest how long would it take for an A320 Captain to be certified to command a 737?

8 weeks.Trouble is there are not enough trainers.Ryanair could maybe take 6 per week. Not an instant fix.

Even if BA did not need the pilots now, they may consider employing them to stop them going to Ryanair.

Think between EI, BA and U2 there won't be many unemployed flight deck crew by the end of the week.

While I'm sure it would be nice, you can get a Flybe flight to LGW then the continent, with BA codeshare of course, or in some instances you can do BA direct to the continent so I don't see the point in keeping Monarch alive aside from saving jobs which is pointless if you can't sustain the airline financially.
