Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

Hi all. Is anyone who is far better versed in ITA than me able to help me out a little? I'm looking at doing the LCA-LAS route in November which should put me at approx 3,300 TPs when including the Australia trip I'm planning in Dec (below). I'm hoping that, given that, I may be able to hit the 5,000 I'd need for GGL/CCR if I can find a way to squeeze some more out of what I have planned (not necessarily from these trips, but with maybe one more L/H itinerary).

I need to go to DAC for the beginning of October, with a probable stop in either CCU or GOI on the return leg and possible stop in BKK also.

I'll also be going to SYD or MEL at the start of December for almost the entire month. Currently I'm looking at a £2,300ish fare out of ARN on QR. Is there any way of trying to get a few extra TPs on this so I can get more than the 620 or so (inc. positioning)?

If anyone could help with the DAC trip in terms of maximising TPs I'd really appreciate it. If required, I can always grab separate tickets and nest the India leg in it, while BKK isn't necessary (was just a thought).

Help to try to push these transcon into A class

https://www.google.co.uk/flights/?f=...=ONEWORLD;eo=e

Would anyone be able to help with a routing that would help to push the transcons from here into A class?

Bit of a newbie, and for some reason, when I try to price the same itinerary on ITA Matrix, it comes out with £3000+

Cheers

It's pretty simple, you need to grab the transcons as BA flights (haven't seen Google Flights do it typically, but Matrix will when you set it up to route a certain way) and find a transcon with no I availability in business. I'd do this as a return ATH/LCA to LAS with forced routing through LHR JFK LAX on Matrix. BA will not grab A if I is available, either on Matrix or on the phone, so for a flight that far out you may be SOL. When I booked a trip out to the west coast end of Sept I got A on JFK-SFO, but it's close in and quite likely at this stage to have no I and I wasn't looking for a cheapest fare in any event, just had to be out there for work. It will not be so in Dec/Jan at very low season for business travel, I am afraid. Still a great fare and great trip

I remember getting 1000 avios from avios.com, not sure I remember anything from BA though.

Thanks to you again aks120 and the others for their suggestions.

She decided on a couple of days, three actually, in SJU using the routing via LAX and MIA.

As I don't particularly like LAS I've also gone for the routing a few hours later but alas I haven't got the time to stay as long. Although I decided I didn't need any more TP's it will put me close to a GUF2 again. I can use that for the annual TYO run.

msm2000UK I see the early morning ARN flight isn't good for you, have you tried the PM flight the day before to HEL which then connects to the early morning AY A350 and then the BA1515? That's what I booked for £1450ish

Cheers

I did this route a few times when I lived in Vegas and it was easy enough. SJU has plenty of hotels to choose from!

As I have 2 periods of time in LAS due to these sales this year, I may even do a SJU route myself!

Regards

I got one in 2016, where if I took a paid flight then I'd get an avios bonus, it was different amounts for different classes and LH/SH. I think I got something like 1000/1500 avios for taking an ET flight during the month of my birthday (January).

Thanks AQ.

I need to be in London for the Friday night, so either I leave on Saturday morning, or I start the trip on Friday.

For the former, I can't find a departure time out of CPH/ARN, for the price, which allows me to fly into those airports in the morning.

However, the new thinking, is whether I could do:

CPH-HEL-LHR on the Friday
LHR-JFK-LAX-LAS on the Saturday

and then the return legs...and I've managed to find the perfect routing (for me).

Now, as someone who is learning about ITA, how do I book the routing I've found? I've tried bootwithmatrix, but it didn't work.

After 5,000+ posts on FT, I really ought to have learnt these skills a while back!

Use the ITA Powertool and guide here:

http://armouredminds.com/dev/powertools/

ITA-Matrix-PowerTools - Userscript for Orbitz/DL/UA/AA/BA/CZ/IB/LA/LH/LX/TK

Once you have the tool - downloaded, click on it while your page on matrix is up. Then on the right hand side you will see various sites to book - I used the European AA site (not the US/UK one) and it worked fine.

If someone has kindly made a reservation in my BA MMB that needs to be paid for by phoning up BA, where do I see the price due for the reservation? I know it sounds daft but I honestly can't see where the price is shown on here! If I click Print/E-mail e-ticket receipt, it gives me an error.
