George W Bush on LHR-LBA (in the bmi days around 10 years ago). His secret service detail was seated around him in an otherwise empty first four rows.

It was the only time I've left a LHR gate and been cleared for immediate take off without queuing!

George Bush on a BMI flight to Leeds? That's just weird.

I forget the route but it was Eastern Airlines in the early 80s. We taxied out and stopped again to allow ex-president Nixon onto the flight with his considerable entourage. My Mother made some comment along the lines of 'Oh look, it's Tricky Dicky' much to the non-amusement of many of the Americans sat around us...

Sorry, Bush Snr, the first president. Yes, it was very weird! He was speaking at a conference the following day near Harrogate. Clinton had spoken at the same conference a few years before, but I didn't share a flight with him!

I don't know if they gave the bmi flight the call sign Airforce One that day!

Are you sure that it was George W Bush and not George H W Bush? I'm 99% certain that sitting presidents do not take commercial aircraft. Otherwise, that is interesting indeed!

H

EDIT: Nevermind, OP corrected after I submitted

They can technically fly in a civil aircraft which would use the callsign Executive One. It has been many years since it happened though.
