Lounge 'guard' at T5N the other week who refused Mrs Gaxxy into the lounge because her emailed boarding pass 'could have been given to her by anyone'.

Would only let her in after checking against the passport.

I once had self-decanted shower gel (into one of those 100ml generic clear travel bottles) taken off me in DUB soon after the liquid regulations came in allegedly because "the 100ml label on the bottle is on a sticker rather than directly printed on to the bottle".

I stuck my ground a supervisor was called and I prevailed. Said staff member humped off to make up some more rules to ensure the travelling public had as bad a day as she was clearly having.

Must be in 2006 the policy of 1 bag only for everybody through security because (recall one staff claiming) it was going to be easier for them to scan.

My bike packed as such:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ctc-plastic-bike-bag/
which is in line with BA's published rules was fine from LHR but denied outright at GVA - no amount of charm would help. In the end I was forced to purchase a big cardboard box from Swissport - raging.

Not a rule, but my favourite made up airport related thing (which I have posted on here before) was at Upminster train station a few years back, when a bloke said to the woman he was with, in all seriousness, "You better go here babe, they don't have toilets at Gatwick coz of bombs and stuff"

There was a mixture of stunned silences and suppressed giggles

I must admit, I always thought it needed to be boxed but you are right:

"We will accept non-motorised bicycles up to 190cm (75in) in length, provided they are packed in a recognised bicycle bag.

Please ensure that you:

pack the bike in a protective case or bag
remove the pedals or fix them inwards
fix the handlebars sideways
deflate the tyres to reduce the risk of damage"

Did you fix the handlebars sideways and remove the pedals? If so I would have been angry too

Yes I did. I showed that page to the check-in agent but it was met with one of those shrugs of indifference. Miserable.

I had this issue in South America (GRU I think) prior to flying with LAN - small deo (90ml) I'd bought in Brazil and had been on several flights already. They weren't interested in the can of UK hairspray with the same symbols.

I stood and argued until they eventually got someone who spoke English, who seemed to reprimand the person on the gate and handed it back to me! Bizarre.

Sorry, not if it's my only bag.
I got that when I was in 1A.When I asked the Captain to stow my bag under his seat he politely declined.

On this one I got the same response in T5 South , however I formally complained in writing to Heathrow security and they replied saying it was not mandatory and they would re-educate the staff who where pressing it!

However, bit ambiguous I think and should be construed to the benefit of the customer (with my lawyerly drafting hat on)

At the new fast track (aka "Copenhagen Express") in CPH:

-No, you have to go to the general queue over there.
-But look my boarding card says fast track.
-This is not fast track - this is Copenhagen Express (patronizing voice)
-But I got an e-mail saying it is available for Silver (showing e-mail on phone)
-Yeah, but this is not for BA Silver. You have to be Gold, umm...Platinum or....ehhh...Diamond level with BA. (condescending voice)
