IME the MF tend to be younger and with less experience but as far as passenger service is concerned not a great deal nowadays.

I have had great and not so great service from both MF and WW to the same degree although the golden tickets i have dished out have been to MF crew so in reflection must say something.

I would be interested to know the reason behind the question unless it is pure curiosity.

Lucky you! Nice when that happens. Rare, but nice.

Having just done one I can from personal experience say that fun is not a word I would use for a back to back!

4 transatlantic flights in 5-6 days (depending on which flights you get) is exhausting, but very efficient for BA. Most East Coast flights are linked as Back to Backs.

I do quite like checking in for the second half knowing I am working with a crew I know though.

Hi waspsl - very simple: I don't tend to worry too much about the employment policies of suppliers, whether BA, Tesco or Coutts as long as their level of service meets my expectations.
Given my inflight service experiences have been fine to date, I had therefore never followed the mixed fleet versus other fleet rationales and debates.
But there seems to have been a recent surge in people wondering if such and such flight is mixed fleet or not, and hence I was wondering if I have missed something, or am just not discerning enough service-wise. It must clearly be the latter

Certainly agree with this. MF does seem more polished now. No complaints either way here.

Could someone summarize the general differences in contracts?

The General Differences are that they have to work harder and are paid less.

By Working Harder I mean they work to scheduling agreements which are harsher than the agreements the other fleets have e.g. Fewer Days off after trips, they can do duties which are longer hours, BA have much more flexibility over changes to their rosters (within reason) etc. (There are more differences but you get the jist)

By being paid less I mean they are paid less money for flying (They get an hourly rate rather than allowances based payments which other fleets get - the allowances based approach is more lucrative for the crew).

Cheers Gold, I am not sure not discerning is fair. The difference is very marginal now, I find the MF a little slower but more enthusiastic and as younger a better chance of some window shopping.

Further route changes have been released to the crew community for the upcoming winter season, again no difference should be experienced in levels of service and further changes could and no doubt will occur.

Denver (DEN) returns to MF for 1 month only - October.
Lyon (LYS) and Basle (BSL) return to EF - December.
Marseilles (MRS) and Sofia (SOF) return to EF for 1 month only - January.

Regards
D1L

I had MF on my flight to PHL last Friday. At least I'm assuming they were MF as the female crew wore hats.

It was the BA69 operated by the 787.

No there were WW crew, all WW crew wear hats on the A380 and B787.
At present MF are not B787 licenced.

To determine Mixed Fleet or not, as CIHY says, the hats can give you a clue but are not definite.

You actually need to look at the men's haircuts

This is 100% fool-proof

EF/WW = normal

Mixed Fleet = trendy, normally longer, lots of gel involved, partings in odd places,
