Say a membership year is 9 July 2013 - 8 July 2014.
Member reaches GGL for first time on 1 March 2014. 2x Silver, 1x Gold Partner Cards.
1 Silver and 1 Gold Partner Card allocated, 1 Silver unallocated as of yet.
Does that Silver Partner Card have to be given before 8 July 2014 or 8 July 2015?
Thanks!

Hi all
Apologies if I created more confusion than I intended. LTN Phobia's scenario B is the right one.
Basically, when you enter GGL for the first time you will earn the partner cards benefit. You will received your next allocation in the first Membership year that you earn 3000 Tier Points to renew i.e. not at the end of the year you earned GGL but at the end of the following year.

Thanks to everyone else on FT for the interpretations of the rules and chasing up various sources to get clarification.

Thanks for the clarification, good to know as I thought it would be the other way round. Well, based on this a quick follow-up question from my side concerning the GGL Jokers, are they handeled the same way? So, you only get a new set of two after your first renewal?
To be specific, I'm asking because I still have two Jokers left; I qualified for GGL in November 2013 and my membership years ends on 8th May 2014. So, should I use them before then as I get issued another set of GGL Jokers on 9th May 2014 or will this only happen after requalification, so in May 2015?
Sorry for the confusion and maybe quite basic question! I just thought about it when browsing through this thread...

Thanks for the explanation Tobias-UK, this is of great help! ^ I already guessed so based on the partner-card clarification respectively rules. Well, at least then I don't have the "pressure" to use them within the next three weeks...

What information are you basing this answer on? It's in direct contradiction to what the GGL line staff told me when I asked the same question a few months ago. (My year end is in February, and I qualified for GGL for the first time last summer. I asked in January whether or not I would get two new jokers on Feb 9, and they confirmed that yes, I would.)

There were a couple of extra Jokers thrown in last year when BA decided to align the GGL year with the Membership Year, perhaps this is where the confusion has occurred. It makes sense that you only get one lot of Jokers on qualification otherwise you'd get the benefit twice!

Thanks to Nicci for the clarification, but I am still unclear on the scenario I asked about at post #49.
If I and my Gold partner card holder have misaligned membership years, so that my nomination from GGL year 1 will give her Gold until after the end of my GGL year 2, does that mean that I cannot nominate her for a Gold partner card in year 2, because she will still be Gold on the last day I could do so? Seems wrong.
May 2012 - hit 4,500 tier points, nominate partner for Silver card (old system)
June 2012 - hit 5,000 tier points, become GGL
July 2012 - my year end
October 2012 - partner's year end, still Silver
December 2012 - nominate partner for Gold card (old system)
June 2013 - hit 3,000 tier points, GGL renewed
July 2013 - my year end
October 2013 - partner's year end, still Gold
July 2014 - my year end, drop to Silver
October 2014 - partner's year end, drop to Silver
If I hadn't nominated her in December 2012, I could do so now, giving her Gold until October 2015. Not clear why I can't now nominate her and renew her Gold card for the same period. Can you only nominate the same person in alternate years?!

this is confusing to a GGL newbie. I entered the realms of GGL Nov 2014. Sir Crazyarmadillo now.....
My membership year renewal will be June 2015.
Am I right stating the following?
- I have until June 2015 to use my first two jokers ?
- I need another 3000 TP from now until Nov 2015 to retain GGL.
- Then if I do I get 3000 TP from now until Nov 2015, I get two more Jokers on my GGL renewal, Nov 15, to use until June 2016.
If this is the case then my Jokers are only going to be valid for 8 months at a time
My membership year renewal will be June 2015.

2) No. You need nothing from now until June 2016. You need to earn 3000 TPs by 8 June 2016 to keep GGL.
3) No, you'll get 2 more on 9 June 2015 regardless, valid for a year.

You merely need to deploy them in your first year and then you get another couple at the membership year renewal, so in the first twelve months you get at least 4, each valid for 5 people, so you can take a whole rugby team - plus a few Replacements - away with you. Even if you end up Silver the following year. When you get to 7, 8 and 9k TPs you can select more Jokers, as one of the options there.
