I would assume that there could be more Gatwick slots up for grabs as a result.

I think they sold their LGW slots to Wizz Air early on in their discussions with Indigo Partners, who happen to be the main financial backers of Wizz Air.

Wow!

To add to this...more from the BBC.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47731043

Iceland's Wow Air has stopped flights, stranding thousands of passengers.

Its website says Wow Air has ceased operations and cancelled all flights. Wow says passengers needing to travel should book with other airlines.

The graphic at the bottom shows the sobering casualty rate among airlines in the past couple of years. Of course, the 2019 count is for only the first quarter of the year.

Just to note that the WOW collapse is being discussed in the Other European Airlines forum, so please post there unless there's a point that relates specifically to BA.

According to BBC FlyBe have today cancelled ‘dozens’ of flights due to ‘operational reasons’. Doesn’t sound good.

Flybe cancels dozens of flights https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47797738

Arg. I'm due to fly them on Friday, it doesn't look good. (I didn't get a choice of airline, sadly).

I believe this is due to crew shortages rather than financial difficulties; although that in part is due to crew jumping ship due to the unstability of the airline. It would seem pointless for Connect to buy BE and then just have it shut down a month later.

Or a issue found on the aircraft that went tech on Sunday is more widespread?

Ok a tenuous link however Virgin & Delta (I assume as a codeshare) may start services from LGW to BOS & JFK.

Is this due to demand or is this war on IAG (BA) and DY?! We know the JFK route is subject to cancellations and sometimes not very busy for BA so are VS DL wanting to grab some of the action from BA?

I found it interesting especially as it’s 2 routes to the east coast.

Also, they missed out VLM on that graphic. And presumably others which I wasn't aware of.

I would guess more likely to stave off JetBlue, who have been talking about entering that market for a while,

From a fleet of 119 aircraft, Jet Airways are down to flying 18. Many are being derigistered by lessors and flown out of India.

‘I know one employee who hasn’t been paid since the end of last year.

Meanwhile, Air India have frames all over the place, either cannibalised for parts or not airworthy whilst they await maintenance.

You can guarantee only one will be allowed to fail...
