And there is a key shareholder meeting on Friday which was where the deal was supposed to be agreed. Guess who is flying (or supposed to be flying) Wow on Friday......

They returned 4 aircraft to their lessors last night. We’re seeing the end game here I’m afraid. I hope you can rebook if necessary...

Anything related to said meeting, or by mere coincidence?

Total coincidence. I fear we may be reaching for Doris Day once again.

And a timely reminder that even when parties are 'interested', or even when a takeover is seemingly imminent, it's no guarantee of anything going through.

I don’t think the merger will go ahead. Wow will soon cease to exist... by Friday... maybe...

“Even with the Icelandair deal the end was near for WOW. Without that deal the end will likely come even sooner.“

Could Icelandair be waiting for WOW to go under and then pounce on some cheap assets?

I doubt it - mostly because WOW has almost no assets. The aircraft are leased, the maintenance is outsourced, etc.

If Icelandair wants some cheap leases, they can talk to the lessors. But A330s are not a good fleet fit for Icelandair who are a Boeing operator, in particular a 757/767 operator (so, shared type rating for flight crew). An A330 would be a lot of extra overhead to operate.

Big restructuring at Wow announced today. Fleet reduced from 20 to 11, no more A330 operations. 350-400 staff made redundant.

New Delhi and Los Angeles routes cut from January 20 and January 14, respectively.
