I did that trick last year Stifle on a BA booking and it worked a treat but just tried the same method with my AA booking (using the BA ref) but it won't let me change the FF number to CX. Keeps throwing a hissy fit when I try.

Will try BA tomorrow. Thanks for you help.

Thanks for the suggestion, I thought about Vegas as there are some great midweek prices about as you say, but I've spent a fair amount of time there before, plus it doesn't really appeal to me much travelling on my own.

Ideally I'd like to try somewhere I've not been before such as those I listed... but obviously those kinds of places - Seattle, Vancouver, Miami and Hawaii etc. are major holiday destinations

I've not done Texas but August isn't the best time for that lol

Hi,

How about PHX?

You can get to Tucson, Sedona and Flagstaff quite easily ( Sedona and flagstaff will be a little cooler than PHX) and then do the Grand Canyon

I really like PHX. Also, Houston isn't a bad place to visit.

60 Tier Points needed!

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this Forum and have already seen some great advice, but I need to obtain 60 Tier Points before the end of my membership year (8th June) to retain my Silver status. What's the best/easiest/cheapest way to do this? I'm based in London.

Thanks.

The fares have changed (in the unfriendly direction), and I think there might be a Saturday night/minimum stay rule in force.

The Revenue might always relax things again ...

You can currently fly to Bordeaux on certain Saturdays between now and July, and return on the Sunday for £225 in Club. That's 80TPs.

Sat 18/5 dep LGW 07.10
Sun 19/5 dep BOD 22.40

You can leave BOD at 10.25 for £25 more.

Planning a TP run in October whilst I'm in the US. I've also always wanted to go to Hawaii so thought I'd look for some good deals.

I found this fare on Matrix but need someone more experienced to check the TPs available. Should work out to be 920?

San Juan (SJU) to Honolulu (HNL) - Mon, Oct 28

American 1714 Dep: 6:35AM Arr: 9:20AM 2h 45m Boeing 757 Business (I)
Layover in MIA 3h 25m
American 1805 Dep: 12:45PM Arr: 3:30PM 5h 45m Boeing 737 First (A)
Layover in LAX 1h 30m
American 297 Dep: 5:00PM Arr: 7:45PM 5h 45m Boeing 757 First (A)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Honolulu (HNL) to San Juan (SJU) - Wed, Oct 30

American 162 Dep: 12:05PM Arr: 8:40PM 5h 35m Boeing 757 First (A)
Layover in LAX 2h 50m
American 1804 Dep: 11:30PM Arr: 7:20AM 4h 50m Boeing 737 First (A)
Layover in MIA Thu, Oct 31 2h 30m
American 701 Dep: 9:50AM Arr: 12:20PM 2h 30m Boeing 757 Business (I)

Not sure about how the service will be in AA F (especially on the 737!). Is there anyone who has done this run out there who is able to fill me in on how the journey went, with the 1h30m layover in LAX a particular worry for me?

Thanks in advance

Business (I) <2,000 miles = 40TP's
Business (I) >2,000 miles = 140 TP's
First (A) < 2,000 miles = 60 TP's
First (A) >2,000 miles = 210 TP's

I use gcmap.com to calculate distances. 920TP's is correct. It's also listed at the top of the page in the Wikipost.

Thanks nux!

Just wanted to check since I think the post at the top is slightly dated and with different a/c types, classes of service and booking classes out there I thought I'd double check!

If anyone is interested the above itinerary came to £804.

AA domestic F on a 737 is fine. Domestic F on AA is nothing like CW or F on BA of course but the 737 is pretty good. The seats are roomy enough. I prefer the 737 over the domestic 757 F and it's definitely better than the MD-80 that's used on shorter routes.

I agree on all points, although I wouldn't want to do a redeye on one!

Confirmation that the LUX/BRU ... HNL TP run fare is now GONE !!!
Luckily I already bagged one for August ^

For those of you that missed it, the same fare code IV0EUS is still available from CDG until April 26th, tomorrow.

CDG-LHR-MIA-LAX-HNL r/t runs at GBP 1958 for 1200TP. Not the bargain of the previous fare, but if we hadn't seen that one, we'd still be enthusiastic about this one.

I actually like the MD80's and prefer them to the domestic 757's. it's very quiet in the front cabin and the seat's absolutely fine for me. Of course, the catering on the 757/738/MD80's is all the same.

You sometimes come across an international configured 757L on a domestic route but it's a bit random.
