Looking at LUX - LHR - BOS - LAX with BA/AA. This is booked in Business, the AA domestic leg is a 757 in 'I' class.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could double-check my maths on the above itinery. I believe it would earn:
40 + 140 + 210 TP one way = 780TP for the return trip?

Plus the positioning LHR-LUX/LUX-LHR sectors in ET at 10TP each = 800TP total.

What route? The image you tried to insert is a link to BA which doesn't work..

EDIT: 'I' class is a business fare bucket, earning 140 TP's for BOS-LAX. You'd need to call BA to have it booked in to 'A' class to earn 210 TP's. So 40+140+140 one way for 'I' booking class.

It says on the very page you linked "Economy Class only; however Class J, First Class may be purchased at the time of check-in on a standby basis".
Unless the e-ticket is re-issued in the higher class, I would think you would not get the TP's for J/F.

Unless the ticket was purchased from BA, no.

Hoping someone might have some suggestions...

I've spent the last few weeks looking at ex-BRU TP runs in August. Obviously in the sale which is coming to an end there are are plenty of great flight prices and combinations available (incl LCY etc.)... thanks to all the knowledge on here that's not really what I need help with

I like to spend 4/5 days seeing places rather than step off the plane just to step back on, and the problem is that for someone who has burnt all their hotel points recently, spending a few days in summer season at the destinations I've been looking at (HNL, MIA, SEA etc.) makes the TP run rather less cost effective.

At present I'm either going to wait for ex-eu fares later in the year (my membership year ends mid Dec), or a WT+ sale and then do a AA run.

The fact is however I'd much prefer to do a BA run ex-eu than just hop around US cities as I quite enjoyed it last time, so given the good fares at present I just wandered whether anyone has any suggestions for US destinations that would offer some attractions to visit as a solo traveller that won't cost an arm and a leg for accomodation?

Thanks in advance ^

Hi,

If you go mid week in Las Vegas especially in summer you can get some very good deals on the strip hotels.

If you can route via MIA & LAX also you will build up the tps also.

Regards

Well I've finally joined the mad crowd and have booked Lux-Lhr-Iad-Lax-Hnl-Lax-Iad-Lhr-Bru God help me. I know I'll sleep in and miss the first flight

One question guys, I have no status with BA ( reason for the trip ) but I do have a CX Gold card. Is there any way I can reserve seats on BA metal using the OW status? I can't see a way of doing it online. Will BA select them for me if I give them a ring?

Thanks guys.

Is your CX card entered into your booking online? If not, enter it and you should be able to pick your seat. If so, phone up, as there is an ongoing problem with CX Gold being fully recognized.

Thanks Stifle

I only had the option of putting one FF number in on the AA website so I put my BA one in to ensure I get all the Avios and Tier points credited. I was a bit worried I'd c**k it up if I put the CX number in and then tried to change it back after picking seats.

Maybe phoning BA tomorrow is the answer.

You can change it back and forth, but you'll need to use the Finnair website to change the number and the BA website to change the seats.
