Quote: If this is a BA marketed ticket, then there isn't really a deadline (other than perhaps the ticket's expiry a year after issue). It's OK to wait until June or even later. However retain copies of the cancellation evidence, just in case it isn't visible at the BA end of the booking.
it is a BA marketed ticket, thanks a lot for your advise

Quote: Hmm. I've an outbound to CDG (separate booking to facilitate an ex-EU). Fair to say that could be that one down the pan return flight is in mid-July. Let's see what happens.

To be honest, much as I'm gutted about the plans falling apart, I'd be happy for them to put me out my misery.
I think you will get what you are seeking.

I had a MAN-LHR LCY-MAN for June 5th which has now become MAN-LHR-MAN. Was only going for an afternoon in the pub with my mate so not too bothered what happens to it.

In Myanmar where the airports are shut and the visas suspended since end of March, and now to last until at least mid-May, we have 21 days in a government quarantine facility (keeps truancy to zero), followed by 7 days at home = 28 days total.

Again Greece has not banned EU citizens from visiting its country, it's just that all GR arrivals currently require 14 day quarantine and I am not sure it will be released until June. I am sure GR will want to do so as soon as possible, not only because of tourism but because of its huge expat population.
At the same time however, the Greek government was very well aware of its own healthcare limitations and imposed fairly harsh curfews early on (which still havent been lifted) despite the fact that it had a significantly limited number of COVID related deaths (unlike the UK government that has treated this whole situation as a PR and not an epidemiological crisis and in cases where it acted it was a bit short and a bit late).

i cant see how Greece can allow visitors when the holiday destinations barely have functioning healthcare centres.

Forget respirators - a broken leg in Mykonos means an airlift to Athens for treatment.

Unlikely. BSL not canceled yet but highly likely will be.

I'm in the same boat. I assume that if the LHR - CDG is cancelled, the CDG - LHR will be cancelled as well?

Still hoping my HKG flight on 3/6 will be cancelled. The May schedule is 3 weekly before returning to twice daily on 1st June which seems wholly unrealistic.

Quote: Not sure if this is the place, but I see the Mail online reporting that anyone flying into the UK will have to quarantine for 2 weeks. Haven't seen this reported anywhere else but have to say this would make sense (even more sense 4 weeks ago)
If this does come into force it's going to complicate future travel plans. Will have to rethink whether a one week trip is going to be worth having to home quarantine for 2 weeks upon arrival back in UK.
Quote: I think it's actually self-isolating rather than a strict quarantine, but yes, the effect on travel will likely be the same.
If they introduced this now, it would be blatant populism. Unfortunately, the UK probably has some of the highest levels of community-based transmission of COVID in the world. Someone returning from a week abroad, having been in a lower risk environment, would probably have a lower chance of being infected with COVID than if they'd stayed in London, for example. New York might be a notable exception, as well as someone returning to some rural areas of the UK.

It might be, you would definitely know the answer to your question around 15-20 May.

I don't believe so, although it should mean we can get a refund.

From experience, the return flight remains (unless it too is cancelled centrally) but there is the opportunity to rebook the outbound if desired. Alternatively a refund can be sought.

yes if it is the same aircraft coming straight back I would expect the CDG-LHR to be cancelled too.

News of another very big call being made today ...... this one involving the Argentinian government.

In an effort to further control the damaging effects of Covid-19, it has placed a legal ban (not merely a recommendation) on ALL domestic & international air traffic until September 1st. Airlines will be prohibited from selling tickets.

The move has understandably generated major controversy - as highlighted by concerns expressed by IATA that as many as 300,000 jobs will now be at serious risk.

Just received the we're-about-to-cancel-your-flight-but-want-you-to-take-a-voucher-before-we-do email for a LGW-PMI flight on Friday 12th June so looks like some further pruning to the LGW schedules is imminent
