If this does come into force it's going to complicate future travel plans. Will have to rethink whether a one week trip is going to be worth having to home quarantine for 2 weeks upon arrival back in UK.
And if the UK does it, you can be sure other countries will too (indeed some already have).

We may well get to the stage where borders are open and flights are operating, but quarantine requirements effectively rule out all but long-stay foreign travel.

A few Greek routes (Kefalonia, Zakinthos, Kalamata...) have been cancelled throughout June. They seem to start in July now.

I think it's actually self-isolating rather than a strict quarantine, but yes, the effect on travel will likely be the same.

It won't be forever just until we get a handle on things.

What does that mean? Currently the UK appears to be quite a way distant from that.

While it seems Europe may be passing through the peak of this wave now (in general) that isnt the case for much the rest of the world. Hopefully those parts of the world will be able to learn from the countries that handled this beat, but if they dont I think you can expect to see these policies in place for
quite some time at least on a targeted basis.

Hello all, my return flight is DPS-HKG-LHR-TXL on June 29th.
Today the leg DPS-HKG was cancelled. I can see that CX cancelled all DPS flights in June.
At the moment Im stuck in Bangkok, since this will be in two months, Id rather wait before changing the flights, is there a time expiration to alter the booking?

I don't expect that to play a big role in governments lifting travel restrictions.

If this is a BA marketed ticket, then there isn't really a deadline (other than perhaps the ticket's expiry a year after issue). It's OK to wait until June or even later. However retain copies of the cancellation evidence, just in case it isn't visible at the BA end of the booking.

Just had a cencellation notice from BA for LHR-MRS flights in June:

You’re booked to travel with us in June from London Heathrow to Marseille Provence. However, due to the ongoing situation with coronavirus, we will be continuing with our temporary suspension of flights on this route and as a result your flight has been cancelled.

I suspect all flights to France will be cancelled until Macron reopens the borders, which is possibly not going to be before September.

Hmm. I've an outbound to CDG (separate booking to facilitate an ex-EU). Fair to say that could be that one down the pan return flight is in mid-July. Let's see what happens.

To be honest, much as I'm gutted about the plans falling apart, I'd be happy for them to put me out my misery.
