Looking at booking CW awards for July 2018. Both LGW-OAK (777) and LHR-SJC (787) are available for booking. Based on this thread, the LGW 777s seem to be long in the tooth, but there may be refurbs next year. Just in terms of the difference in the seat, and to play it safe in view of possible aircraft swaps, am I better off going with the 787?

Given that equipment can change at any time, I would go for whatever airports (LGW vs LHR, OAK vs SJC) suit your purposes better.

Hi, I have an overnight flight LGW-MAU coming up and was wondering about a WTP upgrade.
Judging by info on this thread I believe it'd be a non-refurb aircraft, so:
- is it worth the upgrade, mainly for sleeping?
- price would be 200 per person each way, worth waiting for the day of check in and upgrade at airport?
- considering the flight is 21 to 12, will there be any food served at all?
Thanks!

- It will definitely be an old non refurbished aircraft, 777-200.
- You can only upgrade with Avios if there is availability. If your booking class is in Q, O or G then these are not upgradeable.
- Are you being offered a 200 upgrade each online? For such a long flight I would take this. This is called a POUG (Proactive Online Upgrade 'offer)
- Upgrade offers on the day may or may not be offered. This is called an AUP (Airport Upgrade Offer)
You will definitely get a meal and a breakfast onboard but what they are I really don't know what they might be.

Just flew LHR - YYZ on an unrefurbished 777. This was the return leg of a trip which was outbound on an unrefurbished 747. Such a huge dip in quality from the refurbished planes. I didn't know that unrefurbed 777's still flew from LHR. Are there plans to update them or not? Seriously thinking about switching to Air Canada on this route if these planes are becoming the norm - always used to be refurbed 777's and the 787.

I'm booking LGW to TPA for a friend in WT...any thoughts on seats? She prefers aisle but is okay with a window...just no middles, of course. Does anyone voluntarily book a middle, I wonder? Even the little kids don't do it voluntarily!
Also, BA are showing a 777 but not the same as seatguru is showing for the date (21/10). Is there any consistency as to which aircraft it might be? Looks like it is probably a 3-class but that still has differences.
If anyone has any thoughts, I'd be glad to hear them. I'd like her to have as pleasant a flight as possible! Thanks!

Or personally I'd pick the middle of the front cabin as your friend will be off quicker. 16C and H are the plum seats on this configuration but they are usually greyed out for status holders.

48J 777-2 mini cabin advice
I'm flying LHR-BKK in a few months with wife + kids (4 pax total). The window pairs in the mini cabin are available, as are centre pairs in mini and front.
Any advice on the mini cabin? In particular, do PE pax come through to use the loos? (Seems like a long way back for them to use the economy loos instead)
Also, is there any separation at all between the cabins, or is the back wall of CW row 11 the front wall of PE row 12. I saw a picture that seemed to show a jump seat row between the cabins, but images and reports on the mini cabin are rare.
Thanks
Dave
