Also, BA are showing a 777 but not the same as seatguru is showing for the date (21/10). Is there any consistency as to which aircraft it might be? Looks like it is probably a 3-class but that still has differences.

Doing a dummy booking it looks like a 40J version and best to use this for seatmaps, ignore seatguru. It's not reliable. Any aisle should be fine, all economy is much of a muchness, with the exception of perhaps purchasing an exit seat which IIRC should show for purchase from 14 days out. It is an older aircraft and will therefore have old IFE, small screens so maybe best advise to bring a book or preload a film etc on a laptop/IFE etc.

Or personally I'd pick the middle of the front cabin as your friend will be off quicker. 16C and H are the plum seats on this configuration but they are usually greyed out for status holders.
