any chance of getting this redemption?

I really want to do redemption London to Larnaca via Istanbul and Athens.

Am I going to get a NO chance from DC on this one as it is not the most direct route?

thanks.

I think via ATH goes fine. But there is no direct flight between Turkey and Cyprus(South).

Want to do LHR-KUL-HKG next April in J. Options seem to be to go up via SIN or down via BKK so LHR-SIN-KUL-BKK-HKG or LHR-BKK-SIN-HKG. Problem is that with option one finding any J availability from Europe to SIN in April is like looking for a needle in a haystack while with the second option there are plenty of options for J to BKK but getting from SIN to HKG is a problem in J.

Any advice or would the ICC maybe allow LHR-BKK-KUL-BKK-HKG?

The availability on ANA doesn't seem to give you all the results with SQ at the moment so you might find better availability when you call the ICC re: the SIN-HKG leg.

Ok, thanks will give it a try but I thought usually with the ICC it's the other way round. You see SQ availability but they don't!

I know...I was surprised too!

They do.. but when they book it, SQ rejects the booking! Maybe SQ is also purposely blocking availability to DC.

Not always; the example I was thinking of was from SIN to a number of North East Asian destinations. ANA only showed me availbility on OZ (sometimes waitlist only) with the SQ flights showing no availability. When I called up to book the OZ flight, I actually got offered (and booked) the SQ flights [and in case there's any doubt, I do also have the e-ticket number].

Yep thats happened with me too a couple of times in the last 2 months.

I am trying to remember what were the rules on maximum mileage permitted.

Thinking about something like BTS-ICN and would like to try to go via SIN [but that adds a lot of miles].

*A website says one needs to go WAW first and then either via MUC on LH or via CDG on OZ direct to ICN.

If SIN is a problem, can somebody suggest another interesting 'via' place?

jbfield Aug 15, 2010 12:21 pm

SIN HKG BKK lots of places in China, a number of places in Japan, plus IST and maybe SGN. Might even be able to squeeze in TPE if you go via BKK.

I called the ICC today and asked for the following routing :

BHX - ZRH - BKK - ICN with a two week stopover in BKK. (I calculated 52,500 miles in business).

I was told that this was not possible and that I would need to book the Z1 to Z7 leg seperately from the Z7 to Z8 leg - the reason being that it's more miles to fly to Z7 than Z8. They did however tell me that I could go BHX - ZRH - ICN - BKK for 60,000 miles, which is no use at all to me.

I am a bit miffed as this seemed like a perfectly reasonable routing to me. I'll try again on Sunday and see where I get.

Did you try calling a second time and asking a different ICC representative?
It is the stopover in the lower zone that they don't like - if it were just a transfer I can't see them being able to deny it. If you try a different rep. you might get a better reponse.

I'm going to try again on Sunday, I've read on this forum that people often get better service on Sundays.

I can see their point, but I thought that the routing was fairly tame compared to some of the trips I've seen on the 'report your 2010 redemtions' thread.

I have done ARN-ZRH-BKK(stopover)-ICN-SDJ(destination) as Z2-Z8 award before. So it's definitely doable.
