Does anyone know if Europe (zone 2) - BKK - KTM is still do-able as a zone 2 - 10 award? The Star Alliance planner doesn't throw up this or any other routing. And yes - I do intend to go all the way. Just will have a little stopover in BKK on the way back. ;)
Had an overnight in BKK as well, as the flights did not connect, there is only one BKK-KTM in the morning. |

What happens if I need to buy miles to complete a redemption? Do I have to call ICC, check availability/routing, go away and buy the miles, then call back and hope it is still available? Sounds too high risk to me. |
LHR or Europe to LAS
I read these forums avidly, but am still a little unclear as to how to go about redeeming in terms of best value for money. I am looking at going to Vegas next June, and would like to go Air Canada with a stop over in Toronto and then someone who will take me via NYC (Continental, presumably) so I can stop over there on my way back. My question is, flying out of LHR I have heard has this APD thing going on, so is it cheaper for me to fly out of another z1 airport (like Zurich?)? If so, could I still do the AC stopover thing in Toronto or not, given that LX fly direct to LAS and is therefore the most direct routing, I think?
Similarly, I have heard that Air New Zealand do not charge the APD, so if I went via Los Angeles, I would avoid it, wouldn't I? But then again, i'd lose the stop over opportunity in Canada/New York. So, should I just pay the APD out of London and be done with it? How much might all the charges be, out of interest, assuming I pay cash and miles Business return for 2 people? I normally consider myself a reasonably switched on type, but this whole redemption/charges/routing thing is something else entirely. Thank you for your help, I owe you one. M. |
I was wondering can I fly TP/AC C Lisbon-JFK-YVR-MCO?

Well I had wondered the same thing, it would be an adventure with a Sao Palo stopover. |

I've now reserved 4 x ow GLA-BKK (so)-KTM without experiencing any problems but I did fly the whole itinerary. KTM is an interesting place and I enjoy going there. A stopover in BKK on way out would be helpful as you can then get your visa in Nepal embassy in Bangkok and avoid risk of getting caught up in lines on arrival at KTM. Availability between BKK and KTM seems to be good excepting weekends at times; purchased miles generally available next morning so there should be no problems.

Thanks for the tip about the visa. That was the very question I was going to ask. I was also pondering whether to do KTM at the start or the end of the trip - I think that settles it.

I doubt it as the most direct way from NYC to MCO is not via Canada.
So I would need to fly to Canada from Europe and then connect to MCO. Also, is it possible to fly Lisbon-Cairo-USA, using Egypt Air as the transatlantic option? |

ok, I'm trying to go from NYC to BKK using some interesting routes...
a simple ANA search shows EWR-DEL-BKK on CO and TG in Business... that would be a valid and simple Z3 to Z7, right? Can I add a day or two in DEL without making it two tickets? and the return, is it possible to do a Z7 to Z3 via Europe? Looking at maybe MUC or FRA. ANA won't let me finish booking a "mock" trip since it considers it a RTW. So basically, trying to get to Z7 from Z3 with some interesting stops... are they valid? |

Yep.
Yep. But no stopovers over 24hrs allowed in Europe. Yep. You can have one stop over per ticket. So if you book it as two one ways then you are allowed two stops. EWR-MUC land at 10:20 am, connection next day at 9:20 am MUC-ZRH-DEL stopover 2 days in DEL then off to BKK I know some airlines allow up to 23:59 hours as a "connection" and not stopover... would this be possible? this routing, if valid, would allow me to try LH 346 J, LX 333 J, TG 747 J sorry for the newbie questions ;), I've been collecting bmi miles, but I've never spent them, and my usual area of expertise is OneWorld hehe.. so thanks in advance! |
