intra-zone 5 or zone 5->6

a few years ago, i redeemed several ebb-tlv flights through vienna (ebb->cai->vie->tlv, this is before brussels was an option in *a)

i now need to go from zone 5 or 6 to tlv again, but i thought i read you can no longer transit via more expensive zones (ie africa)...is that true?

thanks!

The proposed restriction was withdrawn after a wave of protest of right here on Flyertalk, so it should be ok provided you don't fall foul of the routing not being the most direct, plus no stopover allowed >24 hour in Z1 or Z2

Yes don't we all, but while above went through and is done and dusted it is some of these more extreem cases that prompt some of the eratic changes & clamp downs by BD in the first place.

Hi - due to wanting to try the LH first class terminal and availability of first awards on LX from ZRH (and lack of available seats on direct flights from YUL on the dates I want) I'm wondering if the following is possible as a first redemption Z1-Z3:

FRA-ZRH-YUL-XXX-CUN

xxx could be YYZ,PHL,CLT etc.

Is it correct that it is not possible to change a reservation after ticketing if the new reservation is ending in another zone?

I have "Germany-USA" (Z1-Z3) and I wanted to add a flight to the Bahamas, departing in FLL which is presently my destination. But the Bahamas are Z4 and the ICC told me that this change is not possible after ticketing.
Correct?

THX!

My belief and experience is that this is correct, same zone changes only e.g. I did destination change from US to Costa Rica both Z3, but not Z3 to Z4 which would be cancel and rebook, but check that award availability is still there before cancelling existing flights as they don't necessarily automatically go back into the same fare bucket for redemptions when cancelled (bitter experience!)

Considering a FLL - Bahamas ticket can be as low as $65 - why bother changing :) It will be a wash with the change fee and increase in miles/cash+miles Z1-Z4

No, because I want a specail flight which is available as Reqard.flight as well.

A normal ticket is already almost 160 EUR!

They didnīt want to allow me the flight from the beginning on because they wanted to charge me Z1-Z3 and additional Z3-Z4 because my routing was not "valid".
The only valid routing to the Bahamas for the price of Z1-Z4 is according to ICCs supervisor via LHR (with Virgin?).

I called several times during the week - no chance at all.

Until now I got everything ticketed - everything.
But this time they won :-(

Thanks anyway!

Thats probably BS. Virgin doesnt fly to NAS.

However, the FLL-Bahamas flights operated by Gulfstream are techincally not Star Alliance - so who know what the ICC will come up with...

FRA-ZRH-YUL-CLT-CUN is available on each leg (biz on LH and then first on LX and US, no stopovers)
