HOWEVER, without a lot more information from you, it is not possible to help you. It is very possible to get a lower rate. In order to help you, please supply the following info: 1) What type of car would you like? (sub compact, compact, intermediate, standard, full, intermediate suv, etc); 2) What is your preferred pick up and drop off location? (airport, in town, or suburbs [cheapest], the price difference will be huge); 3) What AWD numbers are you actually entitled to use and which have you tried? 4) What is your actual budget? |
Awd# Q319767
Found this code on this thread and it it worked.
AWD# Q319767 Got great rates for standard and full size cars. Rate jumped if you picked premium. tried a couple other codes, but they were not unlimited miles. No problem using and the counter people did not ask for anything. |

You want to rent a car for approximately 92 days in NYC for approximately $31.97 per day, and you think that is not a good rate? NYC is a very expensive rental car city.

Looking for a one-way rental from Grand Rapids, MI (preferably Plainfield Avenue location) to Rochester, NY (airport is fine) from May 16 morning to May 19 night. Preferably a standard or full-size car as will have 4 adults plus luggage with us.
However, all of the AWD codes I tried result in NO miles included! Can anyone help me in getting cheap rate PLUS some miles included? Even 125 a day would be suffice. Estimating 700-800 miles for the trip. Hoping to not go over 300 dollars all in. Cheapest AWDs I found: G930700 (IBM), cheapest rate plus 0.27/mile A972200 (Farmers) + 0.4/mile A074800 (Citi Leisure) + 0.38/mile B771000 (not recommended?) + 0.3/mile B449700 (unknown) + 0.35/mile Any recent experience with those codes and is ID required for each? Thanks |

The best rate that I could find is A074800 (Citicorp Leisure Travel), which should get you $148.00, plus taxes and fees, for a full size car (Avis example is Chevrolet Impala), or $216.00++ for a premium car (Avis example is Buick Lucerne), both requiring you return to one of the non-airport locations, which would mean you have to get it turned in before 6 PM on May 19. There is no mention of mileage charges for this rate, but I would call Avis rez to confirm that rate does not include mileage charges, just to be sure. Good luck and safe driving!

2) Hovered over "Book Travel" at the top of the page and clicked on Car Rentals which took me here. 3) Scrolled down to Avis/Find Avis Specials. (<<K816401 is part of the link!) 4) Which took me to avis.com with K816401 pre-filled into the AWD field on the main booking page. (<< because K816401 was part of the link) Maybe..... you transposed 2 numbers in your reservation.... the agent was looking at the wrong reservation... the agent fat-fingered the code when cross-referencing it with T&C... ??? I'm not saying these any of these things happened but you asked where the info came from that K816401 was for Hawaiian Airlines. This is where I got it. |
That works great, but does anyone happen to know the range of discount that the Hawaiian Airlines code (K816401) is worth for US rentals with Avis? (is it 20-40% off, or is it just 10-15% off, etc.)

AWD Code: H854900 $18.99 per day Coupon: TUWA035 Free Day First, what city were you renting in. Second, do you happen to know what company or association that H854900 is tagged to? Third, was that rental the first time that you used H854900, or have you used it multiple times before? |

I'm pretty loyal to Avis, usually willing to pay a little extra as I've found them to be good if I get a dodgy billing from a location abroad. But in Lisbon, for June 12-14, I can get less than 78euros/day.
Europcar is a little more than half that. Does anyone have good codes for Lisbon? The ones mentioned in this thread for Lisbon don't do anything. THanks in advance! |
Have you considered calling the Avis rez line and asking for help, and for what the best rates available are?
Have you checked into renting in Lisbon metro area, and not at the airport? Once in a while, this yields lower rates. Are your dates firm? Have you checked into making your pick up either the day before or the day after? Have you tried splitting the rental into two parts? Sometimes that will give you a lower rate for part of the time, instead of giving you the higher rate for the whole time. I have never rented in Portugal, so I can't swear by any of these AWD codes, and some of them might not work in Europe at all, but it can't hurt to try, right? Check out: G298100 K851000 (Hhonors) A153700 B149870 Z652297 L358190 (BMW Car Club of America) D833357 (American Society of Travel Agents) A074800 (Citicorp Leisure Travel) B908200 (Jackson Travel) H854900 (Avis Special Weekend Rate through 06/30/2011) G417900 (Kellsport/Kellwood Travel) Good luck! |

Used this one numerous times in Poland, noone ever batted an eyelash. Now cannot even pull up a future reservation, it comes up with AWD number invalid. Please correct and retry when I try to view/modify it. |
So you might try to read through this thread and find some other AWD numbers to try. That particular number is not the only deep discount AWD number that exists (or that formerly existed), believe me!

Cars are awfully expensive!! Cheapest (A class) is 560€ for 6 days!! Also, in order for people to take a look at it for you, it will be necessary to have the basic information, such as what you have already tried in AWD and coupons, and most importantly, what are the dates and the rental location for your Iceland rental, and which Avis site (.com, or .fr, or .co.uk, etc.) are you researching the reservation on? |
When combined with Pay Now, I've found that Costco Travel codes have the lowest rates of anything else I could find.
Every year I go on a camping trip for July 4th and end up renting somewhere between an Intermediate SUV to a Suburban depending on how many people are going. This year we're aiming for a minivan and the lowest price that I could find among any rental company (including Pay Now for other companies too) was Avis... $297 (before taxes and before a $35 off coupon) for a 5 day rental over the 4th weekend. Every other rental company was quoting me at least $569 (before taxes) for the same vehicle class, even with Costco discounts for Budget, Alamo, and Enterprise. I must have bad luck with Expedia/Hotwire/etc. They always consistently give me the worst rates. This year, they were quoting me up to triple what I was paying with Avis. Each year is different. Last year Alamo had the cheapest rates. The year before it was Enterprise. I always look for other codes to use to find the cheapest rates (and I compare prices for about a month or so, letting it get as close to the travel date as I possibly dare, worrying that they'll be sold out of the larger car classes for the holiday), and Costco always comes out ahead. When I book, I always book for the lowest class of car/size I'll accept, then ask on the day what options they have that I can upgrade to and see if their additional price per day is acceptable. Sometimes there's a free upgrade but I don't always count on it. Last year, with Alamo I reserved a Prius and grossly underestimated how many people (and gear) were going camping, but they upgraded me to a large SUV for maybe 1/6th of the price of what they were advertising online when I originally booked. The Prius was about $150/week, they added about $10/day to upgrade to the SUV, even though the car size problem was my problem and not theirs. I think at the time the large SUV was listed at something like $1000/week online. Loved it for $220. Apparently I can't use my Wizard number or preferred when I use the pay now option with Avis (or it might be the Costco AWD), but it's not really worth paying double over when I only rent 1-3 times per year. I rented an Intermediate sized car from Avis today for three days (reserved on Tuesday) for $13.83/day with pay now under Costco's codes, hoping for a Cruze. When I got to the counter, all they offered was an HHR (didn't see any Cruzes on the lot). Upgraded to a full size for $17.83/day. Upgrading at the counter was still even cheaper than purchasing a fullsize outright with the Costco codes and pay now ($19.35/day), so I'm pretty satisfied. Use at your own risk if you aren't a Costco member! Sometimes they ask for your membership card, sometimes they don't: http://www.costcotravel.com/#12_rentalCars_avis |

If I manage to get price down to 50€/day that would be a success, I suppose :) |

Check out the same dates and location on avis.com and avis.co.uk, plus the site for your own country (if different), and compare them to avis.is, and then you will know. Make sure and use the same rental information on each site to get a proper comparison. |
