+1

I'd love to know what this code is designed/intended for before I give it a go. If anyone can help with this, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

Got an Avis UK email through today for a free UK upgrade of one class.

Valid 14th Sept - 12th October 2011.

Code: UEPA023. Says coupon needs to be presented.

The automotive industry spent many years and many millions of $ improving cars to make them automatic and I would like to take advantage of the end result.

All of these expenditures were to accommodate the lazy American consumer because it was such a large market. Thankfully, much of the world isn't like the U.S.

Pucci (not quite the same w/o the Galore, is it?) is right. Man up and learn to drive a manual or shell out the extra money for the convenience.

On one side, I can argue that they should be more consumer friendly and accommodate American tourist. On the other hand maybe we Americans should learn to adapt a bit when we travel to other countries. After all, immersing yourself in the culture is part of the experience.

Do you really need a car? I don't even own one here and I live in the suburbs. Why not consider getting a rail pass that will get you around Italy? Public transportation is so much better in Europe.

can I find out if I am eligible for a code?

I posted this basic question in the regular Avis forum, it more-than-likely should have been posted here. I saw an Avis code D005927, and after trying other codes, this came up w/the lowest rental price(2 weeks from EDI, booked online from the States). I cannot find who is eligible for this code. Is there a way to check on which codes a person is eligible for?

Try Googling Avis code D005927

nanp Sep 14, 2011 6:51 pm

googled it, found this. D005927 "The National Association of Bancruptcy Trustees". A number of people have used the code and have not been asked for an ID, could be worth a shot. Thanks for the practical advice.

I've always used my USAA number: A177232. Never got asked for my ID or anything. I had a 3-day rental and used my upgrade code and for a small SUV for $70 total.

nanp Sep 15, 2011 8:27 am

When you use an upgrade code, say it is from a coupon, and you book online, should you just book in one class lower than you really would like to reserve? I tried that with the upgrade code mentioned a few postings above this, for a European rental. The price came out higher than when I did not use the coupon.

OK, I found that it is linked to "Citicorp Leisure Travel." So maybe some sort of rate for Citi employees?

Has anyone had luck with this rate without being asked for ID??

Many thanks!

msk6261 Sep 26, 2011 6:45 pm

We are Citi employees and never get ID'd.

Looking for a rental in Jan. 2012; need unlimited miles
Pick up / return in the Maryland suburbs of Wash. DC
Does anyone have suggestions?

Anyone know when the rates will be available for January? I am not seeing any.

Thanks....

I have been using AWD# X154043 which has given me up to 50% off depending on where and what I am renting. It always seems to be the lowest rates though. I have been using this code for years and have never been asked for an ID or questioned about using it. Love this forum!

A quick Google of the code or the username shows that he is posting this code AWD# X1540.. on forums all over the internet for some time now. Probably his own company code trying to increase the useage. :td:

That may be true, but it DOES give decent rates.
Just sayin'.

I personally don't mind if he is trying to increase the usage - as long as it saves me money :D

Yeah. It does give good rates. I just tried it against my most reliable and favorite code # G417900

11/1/- 11/15
BOS
$390.00 Full Size for 2 weeks
Both Codes gave the exact same rate. ($390) We know who the "G" code belongs to, and that it includes free LDW cap and never need an ID. Do we know anything at all about the "X' code ? I always get a bit suspicious when someone new joins this board just to post a new code as the only post.

Orlando Codes ?

The codes that were always good in Orlando don't seem to great anymore. Just booked full size at MCO. 11/5-11/14

$359.97 G417900
$385.79 K199060 Orlando visitors bureau
$428.65 J868801 Florida visitors bureau

I used to do better at mco with the "K" code, but this time the "G" code was quite a bit better.

forgive me for posting in two different threads, but since I'm looking at AVIS to get 2000AA miles, wondering if there are any coupons I can combine with AA's current offering so I can lower the price of the following two rentals:

1) SFO Dec 3-6 ($145)

2) LIH Dec 18-25 ($555)

Bloomsbury Oct 15, 2011 10:47 am

Saw this new code on the Avis website which led me to rebook a few of my rentals.

AWD S728000 for weekly rental rates of $179 on Intermediate SUVs or $199 on Standard SUVs from 'selected' airport locations (you just have to try and see).

Reserve and pickup by 15th Dec 2011. Some blackout dates.

Farmers Insurance AWD code price hike?

My go-to code has been Farmers Insurance: A972200. Just logged in today to see that the standard daily rate at my local rental location has gone up by $5 after remaining unchanged for 5+ years. Anyone other users of the Farmers code notice rate hikes?

Any candidates for the new rock-bottom US code out there?

Successfully used N711304 in Italy. Reservation showed that it was a 'contract rate' but there were no issues when I picked up the car. Made a significant difference in the rate.

Does this require any cards to be shown? (ID, Insurance etc.)?

Added $20 a day to my rates :)

SteveJ Nov 6, 2011 9:41 pm

Just searched through this thread and didn't see this one:

X420076

Not sure what the discount is, but I'm Avis President's Club, it's the number that automatically shows up in my Avis iPhone app as the AWD used.

N711304 worked for me in Germany last year, with a significant discount.
No issues.

Good evening all, any one got a good code for use in Australia?

v8statesman Nov 11, 2011 9:11 am

Evening everyone. I am looking at renting a PREMIUM SUV for 9 days from GRB. I'd love to get it under $1,048 ++ if possible. With unlimited miles if that is not being to cheeky :)

I've tried a few codes here and there. But I think the avid website wises up to what I am doing and stops searching after a while.

Can anyone help?

Yours in the Sky

V8 :)

I have 2 coupons you may like.

UPDA028 will give you a double upgrade.

TPPA034 will give you 3rd day free on a "over weekend" hire

wanluv Nov 12, 2011 1:11 pm

I am traveling to LA on the 28th of this month and thinking about renting a car for a week. I know this thread is for avis but I am not only limited for Avis cars... just looking for the cheapest rental possible!!

Thanks all

petemitchell Nov 13, 2011 9:07 am

Here are a few for both Europe and the US:

UEBA002: 1 class upgrade (no higher than F in the EU, no higher than G in the US)
MEBA003: 10 USD off a weekend rental
MEBA004: 15 EUR off a weekend rental

All three expire May 2012

Hey folks!

Could anyone please share your experience when using costco discount codes? Do you have to present a proof of membership when picking up a car?

I never have but you could run into an agent that's a stickler for the rules, so have a Plan B in mind. Costco Travel has changed their regs recently (e.g., requiring registration in their site, separately from Costco's site, and saying you must be residing in the U.S., though I'm not sure how tight the latter if kept to if the rental company doesn't care).
