In the US. Been using this code for months with no issue (at airport locations) and my most recent "reminder" email came with the "corporate ID" warning.
I'll be flying into Destin FL airport. Anyone have very recent success with this code and no ID? I just used in May with no issue (or email warning). Any idea what US company it is used for? |
I have a reservation coming up in a couple of weeks at Embarcadero in San Francisco. I used the Deloitte code A442100 to make the reservation, and got the email warning about using corporate codes, etc. I did used to work at Deloitte, and even have my business cards from there. Wonder if that's enough to pass muster..I never used the code before or rented at this location - so not sure how strict they are. Does anyone have any experience there?
What someone mentioned above in the thread was concerning to me - if there was an accident, I would be concerned that I would not be covered if I used that code. It doesn't look like the Deloitte code includes insurance - so maybe that's only a concern for those types of codes. But if that would happen, I think it could be worth paying some more to avoid any issue down the line. |

It's for Bombardier employees. Avis has definitely been cracking down, not only via the email warnings but agents being told to check for eligibility at the rental counter, so be forewarned.

As a few of us have noted on here, getting out of the security gate with a car/price is far different than legitimately having the car out. If you're not honest on any of the information (whether or not you have a fake business card showing you work for a company), it's fraud and violating the rental agreement. If you get into an accident under these circumstances, any insurance you have (whether through the AWD, purchased from Avis, through a credit card, and possibly even from your own insurance) will be void and not cover you. While you could save a few $$ on the rental, you're opening up a can of worms for issues down the road that could be many100-1000x more costly than what was saved.

Besides that, announcing that you are thinking of committing fraud is probably not a great idea if your FT handle matches the name you plan on renting under and/or the airport you are next flying into. Just sayin.

Where did you see it mentioned that the code doesnt include insurance?
A former co-worker of mine from Deloitte told me that we were allowed to use that code and that he's used it many times, but I'm not so sure it's true. |

When I made a reservation with the code, it actually looked like it it included roadside assistance, because that option was crossed out and it said "included with awd code". The other insurance options were still available for purchase, so I assumed those weren't included.

With all this "cracking down" by Avis, does that make this thread somewhat obsolete? I imagine anyone with a legit corporate code would get it from their company, rather than a Flyertalk thread. Are there AWD codes that are legit to be used by the general public which offer good savings? I tried the Costco customers one and it wasn't great.

Or posting an AWD you're fraudulently using and where you're planning on going...

Preferred experience and corporate codes
Has any preferred member used a corporate code within the last month in the US been asked to produce proof in any airport location?
As a preferred member, I rearly see any humans when picking up my car. I am heading to LAX in a few weeks and welcome any fresh experiences. |
Is there any way to refuse the CDW and insurance when on the corporate AWDs?
