As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

Just tested the code for a one way rental on Avis.ca from my location in downtown YYZ to the airport and the regular rate on a one day rental was $55.00 plus tax ($76.65 total) for a sub compact. Using the code it came out to $27.99 plus tax ($46.13) for the same car. Savings of $30 sounds like a good deal to me as the surcharge of almost $13.00 CAD doesnt seem to be going anywhere anytime soon so use the code and keep some money in your pocket!!

Hi. First time poster, apologies if this breaks any rules.
I've not rented a car in the US before, I normally borrow a friends. This time I plan to do a road trip and I need a car for just under a month (full size).
There are a few things I'm having trouble with:
The cheapest price I can find right now is with Avis, via Orbitz (with their $9USD/day insurance), $65USD additional driver fee, and an underage fee of $702USD ($27USD/day). That's a total of $1835USD for a 26 day booking in PA (airport pickup/dropoff)
Are there any suggestions? Is it possible Avis might waive the underage fee for my additional driver given he would only be 2 months off renting?
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: This is 2/26/11-3/24/11. If I'm better off creating a new thread please let me know, cheers.

There are a few things I'm having trouble with:
- I am 25, but my additional driver will be 2 months short of 25 at the time of the rental.
- I'm an Australian, and our personal car insurance policies don't extend to rental cars (except in some cases cover the excess, likewise with our credit cards). Over a month, the LDW is very expensive.
- The Avis additional driver fee appears to be capped at $65USD.

For the dates you've mentioned plus daily insurance the total i've got is 1102.65 USD total including taxes; a savings of over $700 from booking through Orbitz.
Don't quote me on this, but you can simply not tell them about the additional driver if you want to save the money. Only your conscious that is effected provided the other driver doesn't get in an accident. There's always options!!

TravelGuard is a third party source for car rental insurance. I'd be interested whether they provide a reasonable quote. Good luck!

I also used the A972200 to book a one-way local edition to SFO for $31 (intermediate car).
Great deal! ^

Hertz's website lists it under Featured Offers. The current number for the Underage Coupon is PC 144314. This is listed as expiring on Dec 31, although it was renewed in the past, sometimes with a different number.
