As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

Do you know where this rate comes from?
Is this safe to use?

I do not want to be asked to present some ID/ voucher and then forced to pay rack rate.

First first trip with babies so cannot afford any hassles.

thanks,

Do NOT use this AWD. It belongs to Avis employees and you will have to show proof of Avis employment.

Try the Florida Travel Bureau and Disney codes. Those seem to really lower the rate on rentals within FL.

You will be asked to show State employee ID.

In general you would be hard pressed to find good discount in Florida because it is high season.

Florida codes

Thanks for the list. For mid-Feb. the car rates are sky-high (yup - within the North East school break calendar). Right now I have Avis at $228/week/intermediate. Just tried the above codes and got the following rates before free-day coupon....

J868801..........Florida Visitor Bureau = $228.20
K199060..........Great FL Rates = $636.29
Z001181..........Good FL code = $345.13
D454000..........Disney123 - international, too! = $636.29

Crazy.

Just booked a 6-day rental in KOA (Kona, Hawaii) and rates were all over the map for a compact. Some codes produced rates as high as $210 before taxes. Finally stumbled across K199060 (major Florida tourism organization) and base dropped to $145.

As they used to say on Five-0, "Book 'em Danno!"

ps - hopefully someone will appreciate my attempt @ humour

I appreciate your humor as well as specifying that KOA is Kona.

They will ask for your ID to show you are a state employee. I think you'd better try another code.

Even if you have a Florida driver licence you will still be asked to show Florida State employee ID.
