As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

Any good hawaii codes? I found 179 on Alamo for a week, can't seem to get anywhere near that on Avis without using B999000 which doesn't seem like a smart idea to use.

I routinely rent from my local Avis, using the state of Florida AWD. I have never had an issue.
The agent and I were curious as to why I have not been upgraded to Avis first as I have had TONS of rentals.
It turns out, the FLorida AWD does NOT allow you to earn miles, status or coupons!
My agent switched me to the Costco AWD. Does anyone have a REALLY good back up AWD?

Okay, I got this code (K444404) from this thread and it brought my 6 day rental rate from $589 to $229. However, in the thread I discovered it is for somekind of NetJet rate. Does anyone think I'll have trouble using it? I called Avis (pretenting to be with NetJets) and they said I won't need anything and that you only need an ID or something like that for a corporate rate. I'd hate to get there and be forced to pay rack rate!

When an FTer friend set me up (via MarquisJet) to become a Chairman's Club member, that code was entered into my profile as default. I never had a problem.

I am just curious about this code since it can save a lot of money for my repetitive one-way itinerary (from/to IND). Thanks.

How did you get this e-mail? Did you ask about this AWD number or you just made a reservation out of this AWD then got the e-mail saying you must be the employee.

I had the same worries when i used this code in Italy last month. It saved me 400 euros for a week.
The Avis agent did not say a word. He just gave me the key and the car was ready for us.
You should not have called beforehand and bring atention to the reservation since they may put a note there for you to produce an id. But , you should be fine.
I used here in the US as well with no problem

which airport and what dates gave you a $160 weekly rate? At OGG in April, it gives me over $375 (before taxes etc.) for a subcompact. Even AAA gets me better than that (though nowhere near $160)

Got questioned about FL state AWD
This week I rented for 2 days in Pensacola and used the FL state AWD (A113400) because it was 30% cheaper than anything else. I have used this code before with no problems, and since I am a FL resident and have a FL drivers license, I always felt like I'd never have any problems. But this time the very observant agent looked at my reservation and noticed that my Pres. Club profile listed my company as "US Government" but my AWD was for "FL state employees". She asked if I was a state employee or federal employee, so I told her the truth (federal). Then I just played dumb as she "fixed it".
Of course when I got the contract the rate had reverted back to the US Gov rate which was 50% higher than what I had. Since I was in a hurry I said nothing and just decided to argue it on the return.
Upon returning unfortunately it was the same agent, so I again played dumb and said "hey, my charges are 50% higher than what they should be". She then looked at my reservation again and explained how I can't use the FL state AWD, etc... So all I said was that I had a reservation at a certain rate, and it was not acceptable for her to have raised the rate without saying anything to me at the time (which she had not). And also, that I had not signed anything okaying the new rate (which I had not). So at that point she did adjust the rate down to about just 10% higher than the original rate, and I accepted it.
And then she asked me a final question, which was how I had gotten a President's Club membership since I was obviously not the president of my company (US Gov). I explained the whole deal with the Continental Airlines Mastercard and she thanked me for explaining it saying that she just couldn't figure it out.
So in the end, the big lesson learned for me: I removed my employer from my profile since this really caused the entire issue.
