Just booked this myself. What a great promotion.
The only thing I noticed is that the room rate is on the e-mail confirmation itself, and I assume this is normal. Specifically, it states: "$242.00 USD per night. QAPLAWR 2 FREE NIGHTS - CANCEL 02 DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL"
I assume this is just standard stuff and it'll be taken care of at check in/check out time?

Mrs. PTravel and I just got back from our free weekend. When we checked in the room clerk said, "Oh, you're comped!" and ran my Amex for incidentals. We ate twice at the Society Cafe -- I don't if you'd call it breakfast or lunch -- but on checking out our total bill was $34, representing two mojitos I had at the bar while waiting for Mrs. PTravel to finish shopping.
Our room was in the Encore Tower, 56th floor (which is really the 46th floor -- there are no floors in the 40s) with a very nice view, albeit facing north up the Strip. The decor in the room was nice, but I think it was a bit smaller than a Venetian standard suite. The bathroom was kind of strange -- a big marble mausoleum and the shower stall had no place to put the soap or shampoo. Unlike the Venetian suite, the toilet was not in a separate little room. We've been married 14 years, but I'm still not so unselfconscious that I would use the can while Mrs. PTravel is in the room with me.
I like the casino at the Encore much more than the Venetian (which has been my favorite). I think, though, it's primarily because it was empty. Saturday afternoon, I approached a near empty craps table and, as I don't really understand the game, was coached by a friendly and helpful -- um --- I don't know what her position was, but she wasn't the stick man, she didn't get to sit down, and there was someone else doing the same job at the other end of the table.
All in all, I found the staff to be very nice and friendly. Overall, the guests appeared to be of somewhat higher quality then I usually find at the Venetian -- not a single wife-beater to be seen. The place was, however, SWARMING with children, but then so was the rest of LV. At our not-quite-lunch-too-late-for-breakfast today at the Society Cafe, I refused a table that was adjacent to a large group with a bunch of screaming toddlers. Thank god, the way the casino is set up, there weren't strollers, babies and toddlers around the slots or the table games. I'd add that I had one of my most pleasant afternoons gambling on Saturday. Though I only went through a few hundred dollars, I enjoyed the table games and had quite a few long runs on the slot machines -- enough pay-outs to keep me interested though, in the end, everything went back into Mr. Wynn's pockets.
I guess Wynn and Amex accomplished their goal: we liked Encore well enough to stay again. They have my email address. Now I'll start watching for deals.
Oh, and one thing: if, like me, you drive from LA to LV, and you find yourself in the left lane on the I-15 with a long line of cars behind you and nothing in front of you . . . MOVE THE HELL OVER YOU STUPID $%^$&!!!!!!!! Traffic was a bear because of the construction on I-15 but, today, we broke our record for how long it took us to get home: 6+ hours! And all because of these morons, most of whom were driving those van things.

Huh- PTravel was there, too. Mostly what he said, but:
- we were in 5948 (Eastmost end of the floor) and had a door on our toilet area and had not only a place you could sit in our shower stall and a place to put soap, etc.
- maybe 'cause I didn't go where the parents were, but I didn't see many kids at all (but maybe being childfree, just I tune 'em out )
- I wanted to make sure that my bill had the proper comps (after what I'd seen here) so at 4PM went downstairs to review it in line- and there was, as was reported, a zoo of people trying to check in. Don't know why it takes so long
- probably due to the coloring of the windows my SprintPCS phone was nearly useless in my room- which was a first, even for the altitude- but more importantly, so was my 3G adapter, so I had to use their internet at $14/day- at least it was fast (20MBit/sec)
But, this was a great idea by AmEx/Wynn; even after the $210 FHR credits I dropped $320 (and another $350 elsewhere in LV) and liked the hotel enough that I'd go back there when I find myself in Lo$t Wage$ again (which actually hasn't been in a while).
(Oh, and What He Said about the drive home; I left ~1730 and it took some 4.5 hrs to get back to my GFs in the OC- most of the slowdown on the road was merely incompetent, braking-for-no-good reason drivers being slow )

I think [total assumption] if you're facing North in Encore that the room size is smaller than if you're facing South [looking at the Wynn & "Area 51 plane loading"].
As such if this is the case maybe the bathroom setup is different. Both times I've stayed at Encore we faced south and our rooms had the toilet room with door and the shower had a sitting ledge and a toiletries ledge.

Very logical assumption, but I've had rooms facing both north and south strip that have the separate water closet.

We were there this weekend too, actually just walked into work off the redeye.
I'd have to say the promo worked out better than I could have expected. I kept expecting the other shoe to drop at some point and it never did.
All this started because my wife and I have two separate Amex cards, so a few weeks ago I called and booked two rooms under the promo so some friends could meet us. I even called back early last week because my name was on both rooms, since I had made both reservations in one phone call, and a phone rep reassured me that as long as we presented the two cards at checkin it would be no problem.
Fast forward to Friday afternoon, I was rushing through a few last minute things at work before leaving for the airport, and I get an email from an Amex Travel rep with the subject line, "Urgent Assistance Required". Essentially Wynn had called Amex asking if they had double booked me. I had to go through several phone calls with the Amex rep to keep both reservations, get my wife's name on one of them, and clear up the confusion over whether her card was just an additional card on my account or was actually an entirely separate account (the latter). I'm not relaying this part of the story to knock either Wynn or Amex, I understand the confusion on the hotel's part, and the woman I spoke with at Amex was extremely responsive and helpful. My only point is that by the time we were on the plane on Friday I had basically convinced myself that things wouldn't go as planned, and I was justifying paying for one of the rooms while getting the other under the promo.
Well, my experience was the complete opposite. We showed up at Encore checkin about 10:00pm Friday night, and though it was a bit slow, there were probably only 5 people ahead of us in line. Once we got to the counter we were told that the room we were checking into had been upgraded to the Tower Suites. When the woman went to checkin the second room she said that it had not been upgraded because the Tower Suites were full. I considered trying the "$20 trick", but since we were so far into the process I basically just said that we preferred to be in a room near our friends, even if that meant foregoing our upgrade. She made two quick phone calls, and then handed us keys for both rooms in the Tower Suites, on the same floor no less.
The rooms in the Tower Suites were fantastic. We were overlooking the strip, looking directly at Trump facing straight out our window. We stayed at Palazzo last month, and I'll agree with what others have said, that the suites at Encore were a bit smaller, but the layout is completely different with the Palazzo being one open space, and the Encore suite dividing the living and bedroom areas with that half-wall with the flat screen in it. I think price being equal, we would probably choose Encore over Palazzo, but we never a regular resort room at Encore, so I'm not sure if the upgrade to Tower Suites made a big difference.
We had breakfast both Saturday and Sunday at The Buffet at the Wynn (where you can skip the line by showing your Tower Suites room key), which we loved, and a late lunch by the pool at Terrace Point Cafe.
As someone here mentioned, I was concerned about the promo being applied correctly, so around 4:00 on Sunday I went to review the bill. The often-mentioned complete mob scene at Encore checkin was in full effect. Fortunately, we were able to walk right up to the counter at the Tower Suites reception.
After combining the charges for the rooms, the bill was in the $300s, which I knew was too high. The promo hadn't been applied, but when I pointed it out to the guy behind the counter he couldn't have been more helpful. Without any debate over each item he just started going through the bill and knocking things off. When all was said and done we paid about $100 for some drinks and things we had charged to the room along the way, and that was it. As several people here have reported, it doesn't look like they even charged the $70ish in taxes for each room.
All in all we had a fantastic experience at Encore, from the rooms, to the dining, to the casino. I thought Palazzo would be hard to unseat as my goto, but Encore will definitely be a consideration on our next trip. Which, obviously, was the point of the promo.
Now, if they would just bring the promo back every now and then...

How exactly do the credit's get applied? Is it $60 per day for breakfast ( 2 guests in the room) plus a one time credit of $90 (2 for lunch). I am staying 4 nights, paying 2, staying 2 for free. Should I expect $330 of credits back? Is it $330 back off the specific meals or $330 off anything at the hotel? (ie drinks, minibar, etc)

So, a longer answer is to be clear on the times that each credit is available so you don't think you'er getting your daily breakfast credit, when the hotel is considering you on your one-shot per stay lunch credit. I think the short answer to your original question though is that the credits seem to apply to specific items on your bill, not a general credit toward your stay.
Hope that helps.
