After ten minutes on hold with the Wynn, she had to turn right back around and re-reserve the original dates. I'm sure if she could have reached through the phone to choke me, she would have.
wait you were able to book 3/29-3/31? arent those included in the blackout dates?

I was just relaying the information I was given then. The rep was very willing to read all of the T/C's when I asked, including the blackout dates. I wrote as quickly as I could so I could post them here as well as for my own edification. Nonetheless, if you can book it, and it works - awesome! Enjoy.

I am going in May, so hopefully the promo gets extended. If not, there are some rock bottom rates for then anyway, I am sure I will be okay.

Help plantinum amex question

Ok ladies & gentlemen here is my question,

I have a corp Plat Amex in my name. However, my company forbids using the card for personal use. Anyway I called up the Platinum Amex travel service and made it very clear to the agent that I have a corp Axem, and want to book the 2 free nights at Wynn. the Agent confirmes the reservation. I asked her about the rules and regulatuions associated with this promo. I asked her if I can secure the reservation with my personal Amex blue card, she said yes and took the number and sent me an email to confirm.

Just to make sure I would not have any problem upon checkin, I called back to Amex Travel customer service and I was told the opposite, That I must use the Platinum card upon checkin or loose the FHR+ the 2 free nights and would be charged the Rack rate for the 2 nights, so i cancelled the reservation.

Does anyone have any experiance with this senario. What are your stoires about using the FHR or a promo and using another card upon check in?.

Anyway here is the actual text from amex terms and condistions so you can see where I got the aformentions text from.

In order to receive Fine Hotels & Resorts Program amenities and rates, reservations must be made through Platinum Travel Services. Payment must be made with an American Express Card in the Platinum Card member’s name. Room upgrade upon arrival is based on availability. One special program amenity per room, per stay. Special amenity restrictions vary by hotel and cannot be redeemed for cash. Platinum Card members may reserve up to two (2) additional rooms other than for their own use, inclusive of the standard amenities and negotiated rate. The member must accompany the party as a guest for which Fine Hotels & Resorts Program reservations are made. In the event the Platinum Card member cancels his or her reservation, the Fine Hotels & Resorts Program rates and amenities will no longer apply to any remaining reservation(s). Back-to-back stays within a 24-hour period at a single FH&R Hotel are considered one stay. Fine Hotels & Resorts Program participants and amenities subject to change without notice. Must reserve Fine Hotels & Resorts Program negotiated rates and room categories in order to receive amenities. American Express acts solely as sales agent for travel suppliers and is not liable for the acts or inactions of such suppliers. FHR Reservations

In order to book FHR, you have to use a platinum card. However, when the final bill can be paid with any AMEX credit card. It even says so in the travel arrangement confirmation e-mail I got for the Wynn/Encore promotion. It says:

FINE HOTEL AND RESORT PROGRAM. FOR PAYMENT, PLATINUM CARDMEMBERS MUST USE AN AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD PRODUCT IN HIS/HER NAME.

It doesn't say you have to use the platinum card for payment, just an amex. Hope this helps!

If you have a personal and corporate Platinum amex, can you book the promo twice?

Wynn Resorts sees 'dramatic' decline in business

So I suppose they are losing so much money that they're willing to give away rooms [per this promotion] in hopes of people coming to gamble and spend. Well now I'm one of them. Also it sounds like gamblers may have or have had better odds at the Wynn!

****From todays headlines 2/24/2009 17:16 ET

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) - A "dramatic deceleration" in gambling and other revenue combined with other charges pushed Wynn Resorts into the loss column in its fourth quarter, the casino operator said Tuesday.

After the close of trading, Wynn (WYNN) said that it lost $159.6 million, or $1.49 a share, in the period, a turn from a profit of $65.5 million, or 57 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter. Adjusted to exclude various non-cash charges and tax expenses, the company would have earned $7.6 million, or 7 cents a share.

Revenue stood at $614.3 million, down from $711.3 million, as the company experienced not only across-the-board declines in gambling but a lower than normal hold percentage (the amount the house typically wins) and an overall reduction in non-casino revenue on the Las Vegas Strip.

In Sin City, gambling revenue was cut nearly in half, falling to $90.7 million while other revenue fell 17% to $171.9 million with the hotel's average daily rate falling form $298 to $281 and occupancy plunging from 94.3% to 79.7%. Revenue-per-available room was off more than 20%.

"Starting in October, we experienced a dramatic deceleration in business from the casino and non-gaming departments," the company said in the earnings report. "The Thanksgiving to Christmas period has traditionally been one of the weakest times of the year in Las Vegas but the fourth quarter of 2008 was substantially worse than during the prior year as consumers chose to stay at home and significantly reduced their leisure budgets."****

Kind of incorrect. You can book with a non Platinum AMEX as long as you are a Platinum Cardmember and book through FHR. By that I mean you can call up PTS, tell them you want to book using an SPG AMEX, and they will take the reservation (as long as you do hold a Platinum card). I've done this for every FHR reservation I've made.

I called PTS and after a couple of phone calls to the hotel and looking for the right code to be applied they were told by the Wynn that we needed to have an email or a piece of mail from the hotel since the 2 free night promo was by invitation only for select Amex Platinum Carholders.
The PTS agent asked me to email her the invitation i had. Of course nothing came to me from the Wynn!!

Anybody ran into this situation?

more info

more info including promo code here:

http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/4715

this is the same code given to me by PTS agent. she told me that you can only make 2 nights at one of the properties. the above link implies 2 separate reservations at 2 properties (maybe with two cards).

I made 2 night in april... please post your experience regarding previous posters question about having something to prove it in email/mail from the hotel

I was at ENCORE Fri-Sat (20-21) on this promo.
Got the two free nights in a nice suite. No problems at all at check in.
Free breakfast up to $40 daily (but they comped one that was $65). Warning: Go early -- the lines were insane when we tried going a bit later. And you cannot do room service. They will give you a list of restaurants at Encore/Wynn you can use.

Also free lunch up to $90 - ours was $105 and they comped the whole thing.

In the Sundries store they have free passes to the XS nightclub for ladies ... that saved some $$.

All in all a great trip - at checkout, they did not even charge me for taxes. Don't know if that will show up on my Amex bill, though. This was my easiest FHR checkout ever.

My boss has a plat card so I told her about the promo, and she also went with her husband. She had no problems either.

We were both upgraded.

If you need two beds, WARNING, I saw a lot of ppl being turned down at checkin bc they didn't have enough rooms with two beds available. They told me I got the last one.

Another warning - we were on 6th floor facing the pool but you could hear the thump thump thump of the nightclub all night. My boss was on 56th floor so I would request a higher floor if possible.

Anyone know if you have two cards on your account (under two different names) if you can EACH do the promotion?

Have fun!

That code is also the code PTS gave me over the phone when I asked for it for my own comfort in case I called back and they played the "never heard of that promotion" game!

I have also just booked this. PTS was on the phone with Wynn checking about the promotion, and because I have stayed there a few times before they said it could not be booked under my name, so my additional cardholder booked it instead (who has not been to Wynn).

Booked at Encore, looking forward to it!
