Thanks. And...mine posted today. Two days after meeting first minimum spend. I'd paid first statement bill bc it was due before but it wasn't the full 5k.

I met the first 5K spend on 2/22 and no bonus points have posted yet. They are showing pending though. I guess everyone's situation is different as far as bonus points posted once a spending threshold is met.

My 50K(s) posted the day after the $5k and $10K spend came out of pending.

Paid taxes on Saturday, charge posted overnight Sunday/Monday, second 50,000 points -and- 0.5 point bonus for $5,000+ transaction posted Monday evening. Much more satisfying system than Chase where bonuses are held until the next statement.

Did the same thing for my wife's SPG with $6k so we only have $2k left to spend on non-MS stuff. Too risky for bonus with MS on Amex.

On 5.24.2017 50,000 points were deducted. They provided only a generic explanation in a boilerplate email. We recently noticed point accrual and redemption activity on your Membership Rewards program account that indicates an effort to obtain and use points in a manner that is not appropriate. During an online Chat the agent identified a Pay-with-Points credit as the likely cause of the deduction. I pointed out that a) this was a type of payment, not a "return", b) that even if the airline ticket purchase were disallowed the $15,000 spending target had been met. The agent agreed to open a case, but said there would be no notification of the outcome. The agent also declined to email a transcript of the Chat, and I discovered that their Chat software does not allow me to select and copy text.

On 5.29.2017 50,000 points were redeposited.

The outcome is satisfactory, but there is much to criticize in American Express's process which is crude and irritating.
