You guys are forgetting about retention offers where it's not uncommon to get 15k to 50k miles . Who really pays the full yearly fee is my question?

Does everyone really get those? No matter how little or how much they spent on the card? That's not the impression I get perusing the retention thread occasionally. I see constant posts of "oh, of course you didn't get a good retention offer, you didn't have that much spend the previous year". (But I wasn't looking specifically at Amex MR Plat retentions, so if those magically are 15k to 50k for pretty much everyone, please educate me.)

I think it depends on card spending. I mainly keep the card for the benefits and very rarely use it for purchases, and I was never offered MR points as a retention bonus. I did get an extra $100 credit for keeping the card earlier this year after the Admirals Club benefit ended in March.

I received a targeted promo. 100K MR points for $3k spend in first 3 months

Do charges that I receive statement credit for count toward the minimum spend?
i.e. $200 airline fee, global entry fee, etc

No they don't.

They did for me. I had the same offer and I spent a little over $3,000 including 2X$100 SW gift cards that I was reimbursed for. I received the 100K bonus with just that spend. The annual fee does not count.

Pretty sure this is in relation to the Business version and not the personal.

Best we've heard currently is 100k for $10k/3 mo on the business card. I would love $3k/3 mo!

There are definitely 100k personal offers. I'm not sure what the spend is, though.

I am hoping to get targeted for one, but no luck so far.

Mine was a 3k/3mo for 100k targeted offer for the personal Plat card-not exactly sure how I got targeted, but it was something I was waiting for

When you got targeted, did you have another amex card? If so, which one, and were you spending a lot on it?
