AA's system will not sell gift cards to anyone with New Jersey info in their AMEX profile (and possibly AA profile). Your purchase will usually appear to go through, but when you try to activate the card a few days later it will be invalid.
You need to either choose another airline for this reimbursement, or cleanse your AMEX profile of NJ addresses and phone numbers, and possibly your AA profile as well.

I bought an AA GC, $200 on 1/2/14 and got the credit on my Amex within a week. Now I have to cancel this card and I'm wondering how it's all going to work out.

Bought 2x$100 gc about 1.5 weeks ago. One was charged fine and got the gc and credit from Amex. The other one was charged, but AA refunded the money to my Amex card. However, Amex gave me the $100 credit for the amount that was refunded. I am about to cancel...does anyone know if they will reverse the $100 credit? If they will reverse it then I will order another gc, but if not then I will just keep the $100 cash.
Any help would be appreciated, as I need to cancel soon.

Has anyone here gotten an 'extra' reimbursement based on the cancellation of lounge access? If so, have you been able to get GCs reimbursed as part of that?
