That hasn't been the case any of the times I've visited. QF F lounge has a few items in each category, while the FL buffet has many islands, each with many dishes. At a glance, the FL buffet seems to have orders of magnitude more variety than the QF F (or AA FFD) menu.
As an example, in the menu posted in #88, there are four main plates (eggplant, bass, Chinese chicken with eggplant, and a minute steak) and three sandwiches (burger, croque monsieur, and Rueben). I've dined at the QF F lounge many times over the years, and sometimes there are multiple things I love on the menu, but this menu has nothing appealing to me.

ETA that there was clearly more in offer at Qantas F than FL at LAX on Xmas. There were three proteins available at FL buffet not counting cheese. Between the sandwich choices and hot non-vegetarian entrees or the delicious shrimp appetizer, there were 6. Not to mention prepared to order.

I think the rules are incorrect, in the wiki. I got access as a business class passenger on an international flight to the flagship lounge, and thought it was a one-off looking at the rules posted in the wiki, but if you look at the website (fixed the links) it seems I should get access anyway, as it says "first or business".

Finally got a chance to do the LAX FL last week thanks to a comp pass arising from a 5 hour delay. The place is quite nice - not nearly as busy as the JFK lounge (especially during the JFK peak surge in mid afternoon). It looks like AA's international schedule is more spread out than JFK and I did not get to see the crowds past about 7:00 pm (I noticed AKL, PVG, HKG, and a couple others leave in the 10:30 to 11:30 pm hour)...
While the food was good, I felt the main course offerings were not as diverse as the JFK FL and there was little in the way of salad offerings or greens that weren't cooked. Noticed also the pineapple juice has switched to Ocean Spray from Dole. I'm a sucker for pineapple juice and the Ocean Spray tasted very "meh" (not that the Dole is tremendously better, but it is better).
Wait staff at LAX was very attentive - more so than at JFK. The catering manager was patrolling the room quite diligently and made sure the entree and other items were always full to mostly full.

That's because Costco rotates their "sale" pricing between those two brands.. That's why we alternate at our house

While international departures may be more spread out at LAX than at JFK, J and F passengers departing LAX to connect to international flights at other hubs are also given access to the Flagship Lounge.
