has there been any reports of the new flagship lounge at LAX?
On my visit, the staff seem pretty excited and enthused when introducing the flagship lounge. The agent who showed me around mentioned that it only opened two days prior. The lounge itself had a small breakfast buffet with normal American breakfast fare (eggs, sausage, fruit, charcuterie, cheese, etc) and for some reason sushi (which wasn't terrible) as well as a full bar. The wait staff was surprisingly attentive and pro-actively offered to clear finished plates in a fairly timely manner. Overall, I was rather impressed with the service and level of organization in the lounge considering it had just opened a couple days before. |
Planning to add a post 'Are we there yet?', but finding we are :)
Not flying until Jan 12, I'll return with an evaluation on the result of the l-e-n-g-t-h-y refurb |
I did a full tour of the whole space on 20 December. The AC (VIP room) was busy, but nothing like it has been the past month or two. The FL (VVIP room) was quite busy - I don't think I saw three seats in a row unoccupied. I finally settled in the FFD (VVVIP room) where I was the only one in it.

I'll be trying out that "VVVIP room" when I fly to JFK on 1/13. I'll post a report. :)

The food is less than good. The sashimi was almost room temperature, and the bread roll was as stale as could be.

Interesting - most reviews seem to rave about Flagship First Dining so far. It would take something pretty amazing to convince me to go to FFD vs.the Qantas F lounge.

I'm going to stop in again in a week - I hope they've improved by then. If not, I'll just head back to the QF lounge.

The general Flagship Lounge dining area at ORD was stellar the past few times I visited. Hopefully LAX ups their game. |
I am flying LAX-HKG in F in a few days. Business partner is flying CX in F at just about the same departure time [guess he won the bet].
Assume I cannot bring him into Flagship First Dining as my guest? |

I think the rave reviews have been about the actual Flagship First Dining Room, which requires a flight in three-class first for access. Not everyone eligible for Flagship Lounge access is eligible for admittance into the Flagship First Dining Room.

One guest allowed since you're Intl F. Now jsut have to sort out if we prefer to go to the QF lounge or the AA lounge. Personally not a huge fan of the QF lounge due to a total lack of computer desks. |
