It shouldn’t. Although you become liable for the person’s behavior when you guest them in. If you don’t actually know the person then you may not want to be associated with them should they decide to take a few bottles of champagne for later, get obnoxious to other passengers / staff, etc, etc.

Just curious - how did the lounge agent know that you did not know your guest? What did they ask you?

With that said -- I have seen denials for the same reason at CLT (for the AC, obviously), and the smug desk staff and two levels of supervisors stuck to their position that the guest was not getting in, despite not being able to show a policy. It's terrible when staff have such absolute power and can truly make up rules as they go along.

I didn't check-in with the person. He was trying to get in on a domestic F ticket after I had checked-in and I told the agent I will guest them in. He then asked to look at my boarding pass and proceeded to say that I could not guest them in. There was quite a bit of a line and he was the only agent there.

Yesterday I made my first visit to the LAX FL since 2007! Obviously it's changed quite a bit since then.
Looks wise I really like the lounge. Having all the seating by huge windows makes for a pleasant stay. And if you face south you can watch take offs. I was also happy to note that after the first LHR flight left it emptied out a bit because it was crowded when I first got there as you can see. Wifi was also spotty especially in the other areas of the club (there is a non pictured TV room and smaller sitting room)
I was able to get a shower right away as they have 8 of them. They are absolutely tiny little rooms though
Food selection was good, there was a teriyaki salmon and chicken dishes that were both good. Interestingly though the booze selection is the most limited of any FL I've been to recently. They were also not very good about replacing empty liquor bottles and food trays.

Wow, the buffet has been scaled way back because of “reduced demand” (although the lounge seemed as busy as I’d expect for this time of day). The hot buffet has only one service station of each item. And the cold buffet is lacking many of the usual staples, such as sushi.

Did you get a chance to check out the Centurion lounge at LAX that just opened this week?

A 60 minute connection is not enough time to really enjoy FFD even if OGG-LAX is on time. If you are talking about a late night LAX arrival connecting to the 12:30a LAX-JFK flight, just hope that your flight is early. FFD is great but not great enough to wait 5 hours for a FFD breakfast and the 6am LAX-JFK flight.
Of course, this all assumes that FFD will reopen.
