Same inventory bucket but I believe there are fare class restrictions for business extra upgrades. I remember a couple of years ago needing to upfare to an eligible fare class ..it wasn't a large cost but not sure what rules are in place these days.

Are these BXP1 upgrades useful to a Plat Pro?

I would think so since a Plat Pro and EXP is more likely to be a buyer of a J to get status. and would want to use a J-F upgrade on a LAX-JFK etc but if thats not your thing then no. its a waste. maybe instead of using stickers for a companion though u could use the cert? |

Sorry folks...I transposed some keys when typing those restricted fare buckets. Indeed, the ones that can't be used are B, N, O, Q, S.

Reminder, 1 day left on the Business Extra redemption sale!

There are plenty of PPro and EXPs that don't frequently buy J. For them, it's as good as a SWU on a domestic flight and avoids the upgrade lottery

I had over 4500 points expiring end of year so ended up redeeming for 1 BXP7 I gave to a friend, and 9 BXP1s, plus I already had 2 I didn't end up using, so now I have 11 to use over the next year. If only I could find some availability... anyway, the sale saved me around 1,350 points so I basically got 2 BXP1s for free. Can't complain about that, again as long as I can find some availability one of these days...

Trying to use a BXP1 upgrade to go J>F on a JFK-LAX flight – was told I can't use the cert on this booking since it's through Amex travel and it's a special "leisure" fare. The J fare was indeed cheaper than aa.com at the time of booking. Anyone else have this experience?
|
Non-transferable, but can the one day club passes be used for a companion?
If I redeem for two of these to myself, can I use them to get myself and a companion into the club, or would I have to issue the pass directly to them at the time I redeem? |

I highly doubt youre in a B,N,Q,O or S fare code. I would HUCA or talk to a supervisor if it youre not. have you tried applying it online? |

I am amazed and a little disappointed to learn this so late in life. Diaspora04 |

One can indeed use BXP1 to upgrade from J to F on 321T transcons? Even discounted J?

No experience but I do have a question, what is the actual fare letter, still actual J? I didn't know they could have a J-lite.

Thanks, good to know – seems like it's a HUCA situation. From some of the other posts in this thread it seems like BXP1s often don't clear automatically, so I'll probably just wait for A space to show up and call in then.

Where are you flying ? I find C availability all the time. Including on hard-to-upgrade Florida-DCA flights. These BXP1s can be applied up to 330 days in advance BTW, no need to wait until the traditional upgrade window (by which time the inventory is often used up). I think they are one of the best parts of the whole Business Extraa program.

Some points are about to expire year end. Does the trick of redemption then cancel to reset the expiration without any fee still work?

I also confirm redeposit worked this morning 12/9/21. New expiration date 12/31/23. No reinstatement fee. I was told by a BE rep that if I waited to reinstate until January new expiration would be 12/31/24 but I didn't want to take a chance that they would change reinstatement waiver in the next month. I'm very happy. Wish IHG would make it this easy to extend my two expiring IHG free night certificates. |
Is it a manual reinstatement or can you do it online without calling?

Anyone done a BXP8 / 1 Year Admirals Club Membership
Put one in 11/24 and it's still pending/processing. Used to see these taking a week - anyone have recent info on awards that are not simple ones that are instant on what timelines are these days? |

Yes--- just redeem and than go to the RETURN option and they are placed back into your account with another year.

I joined Business Extra a few weeks ago, was trying to add my flights history today, but all of them gave me the "Ticket Number entered is not valid for Business Extra Credit" error. I pulled the travel information (ticket number, departure date, etc...) straight from my AA.com activity's page. Flights were in June, July, August, 2x November using AA through the AA.com website, mix of economy and business class. Is calling their CS the best way to get this fixed?

Gotcha, but one of them is post enrollment and I'm getting the same code so at the very least that should work? I got the "Welcome to Business Extra" email on 11/08, flew from LAX to PHL on 11/29, same error.

Try submitting just that one without the others... and yeah, call if that doesn't work. As long as no one else has claimed the credit already (this happened to me once!) you should be able to get the points...
