For those who have canceled and redeposited awards, is the new expiration date one year from the date of redeposit or the end of the following year? There's no way I can use my BE points that expire this year and am thinking about how I can proactively protect them while we hope for another extension.

Just had the same experience. Thankfully meeting services was able to take care of it in 2 minutes over the phone.

Question for all those with experience using the Business Extra program. I have a "P" class premium economy ticket DFW-SCL at the beginning of next year. Does anyone know whether I need to use BXP2 or BXP3 upgrades in order to upgrade "P" class fares?
Update: Just used the more expensive BXP3 certificates. Would be curious what priority I get with those |
I had two BXP1 upgrades confirmed on a trip LAS>MIA and MIA to LAX (as both were on widebodies). The LAS to MIA segment was cancelled by AA a few hours before departure, with no availability to rebook that day or the next, so I cancelled this and the subsequent segment as AA couldn't rebook me within 24 hrs. Do I need to call meeting services to claw back the two (now) unused BXP1s that were applied to the cancelled segments?

BXP3 is correct. BXP2 is only for J or Y fares, not for any of the premium economy fares.

Got an email to my work email today saying to join Extra and then fly within 90 days to earn 2000 points. Pretty sure this is their old bonus where you got 2000 points for signing up, with the only new caveat being you now have to actually fly after signup. I am pretty sure this is worth jumping on, keep an eye out on your emails.
P.S. I think I generically signed up without signing up signing up, and took one of their surveys... not sure how exactly you can get targeted. To earn the reward, an eligible company must enroll in the program using Referral Code "21SURVEY" between July 20, 2021 and July 31, 2021 and fly within 90 days of enrolling using their newly created Business Extra number. This offer is available only to recipients of the email sent by American Airlines on July 20, 2021 and is valid through July 31, 2021. How long do partner flights take to post? I'm seeing AA flights posted from before and after the partner segments, which makes me believe either I forgot to add my number or it just takes more time.

As crazy as it sounds, if you do have to call or submit a request, you'll need photos/screenshots of boarding passes and ticket numbers as proof of any partner flights. Because of this, I keep photos of all of my boarding passes until they post. |

I usually request credit for my BA flights as they never seem to post.

Whats the timeframe for a BXP1 upgrade to process when waitlisted for a segment that has C inventory opened up? I received a notification from EF that C is available on my segment, but looking at my reservation, it still states waitlist.

Well, my answer is never. Had to call in after 36 hours of 'C' opening up and was able to process the UG already tied to the segment.

Yep, that's pretty much it. I don't even both waitlisting anymore. Just set an EF alert, call in and presto... you jump the waitlist queue.

One thing I learned the other day -- BXP1s can only be processed one passenger at a time. So if you have 2 pax on a record, even if C2 pops up, you have to split the record and apply the BXP1s separately. Thankfully my EF alert went off during hours when Meeting Services was open so I just did it in one call, but otherwise you might have to call AA to split the record and then (if you're after hours) go to businessextra.com to apply the BXP1s yourself.
Regardless, there's never a good reason to waitlist a BXP1. |
I have 7,500 points expiring at year end and haven't been traveling much. Any thoughts on the best use? It's a shame they haven't offered any extensions on expiring points.

Failing that, gift an AC membership or Gold status (or a flight, for that matter) to someone who could use it. |

I thought there was an established way of redeeming awards and returning them where the redeposited points have a new/later expiry? IIRC, there's discussion of that in this thread.

Anyone know when the next referral code or promo code will be available? I called and they said there wasn't one right now but they usually have one every month.
I don't know how to subscribe to ExtrAA without actually signing up, therefore negating the sign-up bonus. Thanks! |

Waitlist BXP1 or go with free status based upgrade?

Is it just me or does everyone have either a lot of flights missing and no flights populate when you run a statement search? Seems like the site always has a lot of issues. Any remedies to this?

We gave up on Business Extra logging all our travellers' flights correctly. It's super prone to error. I don't understand why. But it just became too much of a hassle to contact them constantly to correct things. So now we get what we get and it's a nice bonus but we don't worry about the ones which slip through the cracks.

Or, simply call and request they extend, so you don't have to redeem and redeposit

Received an email from Business Extra titled “New awards & program changes from Business Extra”. Of note:
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0bc34be52.jpeg Not thrilled with this new requirement. |
I just got the same email. The feared negative changes in AA program benefits have started.
|
Delta has a similar requirement in their program except five active instead of three. Been that way for a while,

I currently cannot login to the site (I get a proxy gateway timeout error) to see how bad the points to miles conversion rate is...I'm going to need to cash out a LOT of points, sadly :(
|
I mean just like MOST negative changes to FF programs over the years, they probably should have made these their policies from the beginning, but didn't realize what monsters they were creating at the time.
• Anyone sign up for any "company" no matter how much you spend? Sure! Great idea! • Give out miles for distance flown instead of fare paid? Right on! Seems like its the inevitable clamping down on Biz Extraa but it was a nice ride while it lasted. My small co doesn't spend $5000 a year in air fare, so I'll redeem in late 2022 and be done with it. |
