Now I found out that none of the reservations they made have a Business Extra number in there. If I put my wife's number in there, will she get credit or is there some other way American tracks Business Extra stuff when booked by a cororate travel agent.

If the corp travel agent has any kind of discount / preferred rate / contract rate / etc (IMO extremely likely), then the flights aren't eligible for BE credit. Often times (not always), the ticket number for these tickets will begin with 0017 or 0018.

I have been denied credit if I added a meeting discount code, so I suspect some corporate discounts would also mean no BE points are given.

Quick best practice question - when you have been waitlisted for an upgrade (I am using a BXP3) have you generated the award cert in advance or waited until there is confirmed space to pull the trigger? I know the certificates do expire so I do not want to risk being stuck with one in the event this doesnt clear - any thoughts?

Ideally you find the space before you buy the ticket. It is a risk to get the award if the flight has no available upgrades.
Personally, if I am not going to get upgraded, I'd rather pay the lowest fare possible. So, there are 2 risks - 1. Getting an award and not clearing the upgrade list. 2. Paying a higher fare to qualify to use the award and not clearing the upgrade list

Yeah I would tend to agree - this one though is a little tough because its time constrained (headed to Russia for the World Cup). Guess I will have to cross my fingers!

I had points expire at the end of December. Any way of getting them back?

Hiring a UK contractor—paying for his BA tickets

Hi, can I add BE number to BA flights purchased on BA.com? If so, how? It doesn’t appear obvious, if even possible.

Thanks!

If I can see open "A" space for 3 cabin first on LAX-JFK - can I call and upgrade my "I" paid business class fare to F using a BXP1?
As of no no space open on the redeye - but open for the flight back at 8pm. Of course the other question is - is it worth it?

Yes, you can. Is it worth it? Only you can really answer that. The only difference between J and F, apart from FFD at LAX, is more privacy.

Has anyone used a paper BXP1 since the change over to the electronic certificates? If so, what was the process like? Same as the old way?

In particular, I'm wondering what happens if I apply a paper BXP1 certificate and give a BE agent the serial number over the phone and then end up cancelling the flight. Do I need to get the paper BXP1 serial number "reinstated" or somehow re-validated so it remains good or is AA still not keeping track of paper certificates by serial number?

Not that I am aware of. The points have an expiration date, no matter how frequently your group travels

You can do it somewhere in the manage your booking section on the BA website. I think it is the same area where you can enter a FF number in the booking.
I did it last summer.

The business extrAA number is entered into the same data field where you'd enter BA's "OnBusiness" number. Go to BA's Manage My Booking and look for the magic word "OnBusiness".

It's all electronic now. I'm not sure how it would work with canceling a ticket, but I would assume they would just detach the electronic cert from your canceled ticket and it would remain valid until the expiration date.

I think s/he's talking about still-valid paper certs that someone might have. In the paper cert case, I imagine you use them like you would always use them. If you cancel the ticket, the paper cert would still be valid until it expires. I don't know that they would re-issue it as a electronic certificate, but either way, you would still have a valid BXP1.
