After reading the last couple of posts, I started wondering about a BXP1 certificate that I still have in my possession. I called business extra and they said that I could either use the certificate (the old way), but if I requested, they would take back the certificate and reinstate the points. They sort of volunteered that these are becoming harder to use (find space) so sending back (via writing void on the certificate and scanning to them) might be a good way to extend the expiration date (which helped me out). No charge for doing this.

The number should still be attached to all flights you take in that PNR.

I don't know that they would re-issue it as a electronic certificate, but either way, you would still have a valid BXP1.

Correct. It's unclear to me whether AA now has the ability to track paper certs by serial numbers. I think they do, in which case, paper certificates are no longer collected at airports and if a paper cert is used but the trip is cancelled before flying, then AA needs to somehow re-validate the serial number.

Do you earn AA miles on ticket awards from Business Extra?

No, they are effectively award tickets.

Just to relate my experience of returning a paper reward I could not use:

- No fee
- No longer need to post in cert - void, write on account and scan
- Points put back almost immediately
- Points added back expire 31 Dec 18

Was that a flight award or an upgrade? There is no fee to redeposit a flight award within a certain time period

Same process for me the other day in returning an upgrade cert. I did mention to them I was EXP though.

Same Day Flight Change after BXP1 applied

Hoping the experts here can help answer a question. I have a confirmed upgrade on a flight in a couple of weeks, upgraded using a BXP1 paper certificate. It looks like I will need to do a same day flight change to an earlier flight.

Will having the BXP1 applied hurt my ability to SDFC? Does the new flight need C availability or E availability to make the change? Can I SDFC into economy and keep the certificate? The meeting services phone agents (3x calls) are of no help and provide conflicting information. None of them seemed to understand what same day flight change or E availability was.

So looking at ur account for this month but see that al the flights posted but they all say 0 points. Is this temporary before the 15th that is supposedly the date everything posts? Why would all flights say 0 points this month when we got points last month. No flights were basic economy btw.

Yes it's temporary. The points will post.

Thanks! This is only our 3rd month on it and still figuring it all out. I got as far as when they show up date wise but hadn't noticed the 0's last month.

I also just returned two unused upgrade certs expiring this month.
I needed to write void and our Business Extra account number across the front. Scan and email those to BE before the certs will expire.
It took two days to see the points back to our account.
The expiration date says 12/31/2020, but I am not sure how the expiration date was determined...
