PLT 100K loyalty pts
Original flight, first leg delayed morning of and would’ve missed connection. 2/24: PIT to DCA, upgraded 24 hours. 2/24: DCA to BNA, 4/11 on list changed to 2/24: PIT to CLT, 16/25 - no one cleared at gate 2/24: CLT to BNA, 4/11 - 1 cleared at gate |
Elite comp upgrade tie breaker
Is fare class still used on complimentary upgrades or is it just who has the most loyalty points? Example: If you have two Exec Plats one is an award ticket and the other is purchase fare who gets the upgrade if they both have the same loyalty points? Prior award tickets were at the very bottom of getting upgrades and prior to that if you were on a free award ticket you could not get a comp upgrade.

Fare bucket hasn't been used for a long time. The priority within each tier is:
|
And if there is still a tie then aa.com says
If the upgrade type and 12-month Loyalty Point value are the same, we’ll look at the booking code then date / time of the request to determine priority. The only way I could realistically imagine an LP tie is for two LT Plats (e.g.) with zero LPs each. |

*CAVEAT* I didnt think of the "0 LP" situation, in which case you should not expect an upgrade at all. It is difficult enough for EXPs with 250k LPs these days. |

PPro ~128k rolling LP
2/28 AUS-ORD 319 #1/12 with 1 available, cleared at gate. But the boarding system didn't update my boarding group and it dinged me when I tried to board with group 1 (even though my BP showed group 1), so I had to point out to the GA that I got upgraded and she manually boarded me. |
Having just made gold on AA, I was curious about my position on the upgrade list for the LAX DCA today. I was 27 out of 34. Needless to say, an upgrade was not a realistic expectation and I had none. Never saw boarding position in app as someone here mentioned that you can.
Which reminds me: who are the pax that board in groups 2 and 3? |

If this is true then I’m not paying $190 for an UG and will roll the dice as it’s showing J3. :) |

So to be clear…I’m an EXP on an award ticket next week with 450k rolling LPs…..I will be higher than EXPs with paid tickets if their LPs are less than mine?

Pleasant surprise on our first trip of 2025 - I'm EP:
2/15 - CLT -> NAS 1&2 for 0 seats when we got to airport / checked-in. Cleared ~1 hour before departure! And #3 on the list cleared as well. 2/19 - CLT -> NAS 1&2 for 0 seats when we got to airport / checked-in. Cleared ~1 hour before departure! And actually that outgoing flight was supposed to be a 7:15 AM departure - stupid early to be there in time for us even staying just 15 minutes from CLT. Tried same-day flight change but nothing was offered. While tooling around hotel night before, checked if any seats for sale on the much better 9:30ish departure - and there were. Called desk and got same-day flight changed. All around great luck with this trip on AA. |

Are you sure SDFC was not already available for the 9:30 flight through the app/website? If not, you really got lucky with an agent that may have bent the rules for you. My understanding is if SDFC is not already available in app, they are supposed to re-fare it. Good for you!
