Hub to hub flight. Hardly seems remarkable, imo.
How big is the list overall? Currently #3 for 1 seat….weird change. Total WL is 24 pax. |

I don’t think I have ever actually sat in Y on this flight….LoL. I always get upgraded.

Could be folks using SWUs before they expire. I used one yesterday for BWI-MCO because it expires in 3 weeks.
Once the flight was done boarding my phone got the ding that my new seat is 3A. :D again…I don’t think I’ve ever NOT been upgraded on PHX-LAX. ;) Nice little start to my adventure to Japan. 4hr layover at the QF F lounge at LAX…and my SWU for LAX-HND cleared a couple days ago. |
Yesterday Tuesday, EXP 12 month LP around 450K. 77W DFW/MIA thinking with 60 premium seats surely I'll get upgraded although not likely until T-24 or later. Nope. Number 9 out of a list of about 50 no seats open at the gate. Think I saw one pax swimming upstream at the end towards the promise land. Upgrades were selling towards the end at $291. I'll take the PE seat and skip the $3 Speedway meal.

I reached Gold tier after a business trip a few days ago and have another business trip coming up from DCA to LAX on Monday. I’ve noticed upgrade offers for the return flight from LAX to DCA at $960. However, I saw that there is a complimentary upgrade request available in my booking. I’m curious to find out where I’m positioned on the upgrade list when I get to the gate. Last year, I did the same routing, paid for the upgrade which was $237, and noticed a significant number of passengers on the upgrade list from the PID at departure. IIRC there were over 50, but none of them cleared it seemed, as even some Zone 0 travellers made their way to the back of the aircraft.

If you're gold, you're behind the CKs, EPs, PPs, and Plats. Based on EQDs on rolling 12 months.

What are you trying to say? That I should fuhgeddaboudit? :). I actually have 0 expectation. I am just curious to see where I am on the upgrade list if there is one, and the total number of pax on said list.
If you are talking about Monday 2/24: (DCA-LAX) There are 2 business class seats left for sale on the morning flight, and 4 on the evening flight: (LAX-DCA) There is 1 business class seats left for sale on the morning flight, and 0 on the afternoon flight: I wouldn't necessarily fuhgeddaboudit... but if you do get a complimentary upgrade, you may want to think about purchasing lottery tickets. :) |
LAX-DCA is probably one of the more heavily trafficked business routes with elites on both ends and lots of F class purchases. Yes, I would say your chances are very, very slim.

You will be able to see where you are on the upgrade list through the app the day of travel. IIRC, it may be updated 12 hours prior to the flight departure.

MAD-DFW with at least 5 open seats as of last evening, EXP with spouse on SWU’s. No dice, #5 & 6 on upgrade list. So everyone using SWUs or did AA screw this up?

On my last flight, I split our PNRs. Cleared my SO first and then I cleared 24 hours before. |
HND-LAX (Currently at a 20-hr delay with next-day departure so I had the EXP desk switch me to a JAL flight so I could get home on time.
Showing J0 for the last few days. Went to bed night before departure and it was showing J1 so I go a little hopeful. Woke up and J0. Got the initial 3-hr DELAYED FLIGHT notification....and about 5 minutes later.....flight is showing J2 and my SWU cleared. Quickly got the ticket reissued for J and the EXP Desk was able to get me on an earlier JAL flight that had one seat left in J. Something is very strange with AA's inventory showing on EF.... |
