Data Points for EXP with about 300 rolling LPs:
6/10 MIA-ORD #8 out of 16 (lol) on the waitlist for 1 seat - purchased award F instead
6/14 ORD-MIA upgraded at T-100 with just 4 F seats held back (very unusual, AA usually holds back all F until T-24 or less on route)

One note is 6/10 was award and 6/14 paid fare, so I wonder if they went back to award comp upgrades being last versus taking LPs into account - something AA did away with last year.

6/14 PHL-BNA - 2 of us cleared at T-100. Both are award tickets. EXP w/ ~175 rolling LPs. Still 6 empty F seats.

Flying ORD-DFW-ICN. Called in for mileage upgrade and added to waitlist. I see that I'm added to the waitlist for the international leg, but nothing shows for the domestic leg. My understanding is that a mileage upgrade is applicable to 3 legs per direction. If the international leg clears and space is available on the domestic leg, will the domestic leg also clear even though right now the app says "not applicable"? Did I request the mileage upgrade correctly based on what's shown? I'm not interested in upgrading only the domestic leg only of course.

Oddly I am flying DFW-ICN 2 days before you. Desperately hoping the couple of J seats remaining will get taken by my SWU...

But to answer your question, I have heard phone agents explain to explicitly do this for SWUs and perhaps they did it for you on a mileage upgrade as well? The reason being that if you clear the domestic route, but not the international leg, you will have "wasted" the upgrade on the domestic leg only. At least for SWUs this applies, maybe not for miles upgrades, but they did it that way for you on purpose?

Hi all,

Platinum Pro with I'd guess ~120k rolling LP.

I paid cash for my future wife and I (honeymoon trip) to be in Main Cabin on a DFW --> SCL flight on a Wednesday this coming January. I also requested a mileage upgrade (the 25k miles + $350 upgrade) and am wondering what my chances are of that clearing?

As of now there are 10 of 20 seats in First taken. I will buy up to Premium Economy if my upgrade chances to First are low but am hoping that's not the case.

Thanks!

I’d say not great, given 50% are sold 6+ months out. But you never know… Did you get any in-app buy-up offers before requesting the mileage upgrade? I’d take myself off the mileage upgrade waitlist and see what the in-app offers are.

Am I not going to receive any in-app offers if I'm on the mileage award upgrade list? Will buying up to Premium Economy increase my chances of the mileage upgrade clearing and/or getting a decent in-app offer?

You will not receive any buy-up offers in the app or on the website if you waitlisted for a mileage upgrade. As to the second part, I don’t think (but am not 100% certain) that it doesn’t matter if you are in main cabin or premium economy in terms of chances of your mileage upgrade clearing. It is based on your status and 12-month rolling loyalty points.

6/10 - TPA-DFW: #3 on list, #1 and 2 were traveler and companion. They cleared at gate. I didn’t.
6/10 - DFW-AUS: Cleared T-24
6/13 - AUS-DFW: #1 out of 32. 0 seats… will know soon, but not looking good.
6/13 - DFW-TPA: #1 out of 27. 0 seats….also not looking good.
~380K rolling 12 month LPs

Looks like AUS flights routing through MIA have been cancelled. All other routings now appear to be at capacity.

06/14 - DFW-CDG #24, cleared 3.5 days out.

Didn’t expect it to clear so early and very excited it did!

Rolling LPs are probably around ~400k, 90k for qualifying year.

Wife noticed that our seat assignments in MCE had been removed for our PHL-SAN flight next Thursday. I went in and looked at the seat map and it showed the F seat map. It also allowed us to select F seats and order meals. I assume our mileage upgrade as a PP cleared, even though I haven't been notified or charged yet. Not optimistic our LAX-PHL request a week later will clear but at least now I know to keep an eye out a week in advance.

EXP #17 on Upgrade List ORD-CLT on a Thursday afternoon flight?

What gives? 225-250k rolling LP’s. But #17 of 55? Hmm? More like United every day!

What gives is you're traveling hub to hub on a Thursday afternoon, which is a "go-home" day for those who travel for work.

What really gives is that AA will sell every seat for cash upgrades. No seats will be held back for complimentary upgrades.

doing this dance with JFK-LHR a week out. 20+ seats open on the outbound. But I can’t see the upgrade offers since I’ve requested SWUs. I’m confident the return leg will clear. Miss the days when this would have cleared a week or two ago.

8 of 15 for 1 seat BUR-PHX - preserving my lifetime upgrade percentage to/from BUR at exactly 0 - going all the way back to the HP days :D

On a PLAT challenge, so only about 30k LP so far (in 2 months)
