And how about this one?

1) I’d assume so, or getting in at 2 am / spending the night at ORD for a connection. The significant delay was officially announced about 2.5 hours out and was quickly pushed from 8 / 8:45 pm (i was fine with the initial delay, but monitored the inbound) —> 12:20 am —> 11 pm. It flipped to 11 pm when they found a new aircraft. I hadn’t left for the airport and sorted it out at home. I had the option to moving to the 9:45 UA flight, but figured I’d just make it an early day.

2) My guess was that a lot of elite upgrades processed with many more on the list. Could have also been instant upgrades, but I wasn’t offered an instant upgrade before the window.

So odd that I've flown AA 300 6x and never been offered an in-app upgrade.

WTH. Maybe someone can explain this one - I'm not complaining btw.

Flying DCA-ORD on Monday and then flying ORD-DCA on Tuesday. I just got upgraded on ORD-DCA. We're are T-120 hours. Very strange.

Oh....DCA-DAY and DAY-DCA both cleared at T-100.

AA’s upgrade processor is weird. I recently flew PDX-LAX(6:30pm)-DFW(11:59pm)-BTR (8am the next day). The LAX-DFW cleared at T-77 (when the PDX-LAX flight hit the PPro window). Basically, it seems as though all flights in an itinerary are eligible to clear when the first flight hits the window. The upgrade processor probably viewed your return flight as part of the same routing, which is why it cleared a day early.

Doesn't this put you ahead of someone with higher LPs who may have that flight as their first leg or only a one way?

No, because if you aren't already higher than that person you won't get upgraded. I didn't clear the DFW-BTR segment and ended up 5th on the list.

Welcome to FT. BOS-LHR follows the same upgrade patterns as most every other AA flight to LHR and most long-hauls in general:

-You won't find any upgrade space in advance looking now through September
-If business space is available as the flight gets closer then AA will clear upgrades starting around 24-48 hours before the flight
-Your chances are always much better if you can fly midweek, especially Tues or Wed

and
AA4251 ATL-PHL May 25 5:33PM

Both cleared at T-100. Low-LP EXP. E175's.

Anyone had experience of using a SWU JFK to DOH from Biz to First. It looks like AA is still offering F on this route.

Sorry for my 'beginner' question. I know you all are much more subject matter experts.
DFW-YVR Mon in Oct and return YVR-DFW Fri in Oct. These are 'S' fares. I have NO status with AA or any airline.
I put my name in waiting list to use miles (60K) to upgrade. Reading some of these threads, it sounds like I am bound to be disappointed.
Any one want to hazard a probability of being upgraded? We have $1900. invested in these tickets- a lot of money for coach- they are refundable. maybe I should cancel these tkts and re-book super cheap economy ?

BOS-PHL AA1511 A321 with 20F - 16th May cleared approx T-8 - EXP Mid LP - checked the 1st class waitlist for the flight and it was 60!

PHL-PIT AA1862 A319 with 8F -20th May - cleared approx T-1 I assume gate agent cleared me as soon as she started to work on the flight.
This was a mileage booking, F was fully booked from last week, until last night when 1 seat in F became available. I think majority of the Booked F were International connections from LHR/AMS as the cabin attendant said we were waiting for them due to these flights being late. In the end 4 miss-connected as just before the door closed 4 passengers were pulled forward into F. We were delayed 10 mins waiting for connecting passengers and their baggage, but arrived at PIT on time.
