As of 9/21:

Flights under 900 miles
  • Water, canned drinks and juice by request only
  • No snacks, alcohol or food available in the Main Cabin
  • Alcohol available in First by request only
Flights between 900 and 2,199 miles / up to 4.5 hours

In the Main Cabin – includes Premium Economy and Main Cabin Extra

  • Complimentary pretzels or Biscoff cookies and bottled water during boarding*
  • No snacks, alcohol or food for purchase
  • Water, canned drinks and juice by request only

In First:

  • Complimentary fresh snacks on flights departing between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.*
  • Complimentary pretzels or Biscoff cookies and bottled water during boarding*
  • Drinks, including alcohol, by request only
  • No drinks served before departure
*Not available on American Eagle flights.

Flights over 2,200 miles* / over 4.5 hours

In the Main Cabin – includes Premium Economy and Main Cabin Extra

  • Complimentary pretzels or Biscoff cookies and water, canned drinks or juice during the flight
  • No snacks or food for purchase
  • No alcohol or meals except on long-haul international flights

In First and Business:

  • Complimentary fresh snacks on flights departing between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Complimentary pretzels or Biscoff cookies and water, canned drinks or juice during the flight
  • Meals served on one tray, not in courses**
  • No drinks served before departure
  • Alcohol will be available
*Includes transcontinental and Hawaii.

**Some domestic and short-haul international flights will include a fruit and cheese plate instead of tray meal service and will also have snack basket service before landing.

cmd320 notation (unofficial): the 2,200mi + section for F and J is a bit misleading. Domestic flights within the continental US other than premium transcons (JFK-LAX/SFO, MIA-LAX on 77W) do not receive a full meal and instead only see a sandwich/fruit and cheese plate.

fly747first notation (official) MIA LAX on 772 receives full meal and amenities as Flagship Business except for lounge access

Insert: ...most US airlines... into the above section and you've got a pretty accurate statement. I can't discriminate, the same pAAthetic service is found widely thoughout North America.

Agreed. On shorter and medium length flights AS wipes the floor with AA. They should stick to their strengths and forget about the transcon market where AA and everyone else decimates them.

Or perhaps CMD320 refuses to be an apologist for parasitic, underachieving, and of course dishonest air lines...

Except AA has pretty much passed JFK/SFO and some of JFK/LAX to B6.

Very valid point but sooner or later business traffic will be back and AA will continue to win major contracts

7/18 AA 2250 BOS-CLT 1431-1702 737-800: Missed the upgrade. Drinks and Biscoff in Y at least.
7/18 AA 1904 CLT-RDU 1827-1925 737-800: Got the upgrade. No service due to "bumps". None of which materialized. First AA flight with no service in months at least.

Whole lot of delAAys today.

EYW-MIA Envoy e175 seat 1F: Proactive drink service taken on ground. Pre poured. Snack basket as well. Scheduled to leave at 12:10 but ended up departing closer to 3. Missed connections.
MIA-DFW 77W seat 13J: New fresh bites menu. Chicken couscous salad. Far exceeded my very low expectations. Fruit was fresh, as was the salad. Don’t know why they included a salad dressing with a pre dressed salad. Could save at least 25 cents per box if they left it out. Was scheduled to depart at 7:40, didn’t until 11. Oh well.

SAN-DFW. 07/18. 737-800. This was lite bite box in F. Chicken Couscous salad, fruit, green olives, cheese and crackers and wafer chocolate cookies. Other choice was Hummus, crudités, cheese and crackers box. Service was excellent. Frequent checks/refills. Very proactive. Addressed by name and thanked for flying.

DFW-SAN. 07/11. A321. Choice was the Turkey sandwich or fruit/cheese crackers tray. Again excellent service. Frequent checks/refills. Thanked for flying.

DEN-LAX, first time(?) this flight is being flown on AA metal for me. FA was great, addressing people by name, providing drink service at altitude. I had the fortune of being 51 miles short of an actual meal service on this flight (maybe a blessing from the photos of the wilted lettuce), even though Eagle used to be able to do a cold meal (how far we have fallen). Usual snack basket was passed around, and the FA made multiple trips up and down with the dwindling leftovers of snacks, but I could only fill up on so many almond packages to hold me over on a 5:30pm dinner flight.

Wow, even the PHL crews are offering better service than the MIA folks these days…
