AA agents have occasionally allowed passengers with booked travel wishing to cancel because of Coronavirus concerns to cancel without fees, but this is not AA official policy. Possible reasons:
Events, meetings, etc. you were to attend have been cancelled due to Coronavirus concerns, so your trip would be in vain.
You have documentable health conditions that your doctor feels are sufficient to cancel travel plans.

As I posted in another thread, my family trip to Milan was cancelled by me last week. Multiple calls to AA and they issued full credit towards future flights (but would not issue a refund). We are going to Curacao next week for vacation instead.
As a side note, my company makes the media that goes into N95 facemasks. We are getting bombarded with huge orders from customers, existing and new, all over the world. Some of the orders are gigantic: 82 tons, 24 truckloads, and the lead time for facemask media went from 4 weeks to 16 weeks in the span of about 10 days. Remember that wearing a facemask will not keep you from getting sick but may keep a sick person from infecting you.

I saw this. Is the correct interpretation is that any flights purchased during these dates are Fully Refundable? Or subject to the standard year to use from date of purchase - sans normal change fees? Operated on only AA metal or would apply to codeshares? The announcement is also showing up when I search for awards. Does it also apply to award change / redeposit fees?
Not a lot of salient details in the press release.

My Etihad AUH-ICN May flight change from A380 TO 787 overnight, change from First to Business, so what to do next?
since I book BCN-AUH on a separate ticket call AA will they waive the cancel/change fee for both or it's YMMV?, or just wait hope Etihad will switch back the plane again?

Called AA yesterday regarding canceling my ORD - FCO award flight on 4/12/20. As I was saying that I noticed on the website that AA was waiving change fees for flights up until the end of March but not April, the woman cut me off and said that AA planned to proactively reach out to those who have flights scheduled for April within the next week or two with options of how to change/cancel their flights.
Curious if anyone has actually been contacted by AA rather than the other way around on this (unless their flight was canceled, eg the recent flights to Milan)?

did you ask about a credit (like the other poster got), not a refund? I haven't decided yet for sure. Going to see how the spread goes the next few days. If I judge Paris to be OK, I might just eat the ticket to Switz and spend the time in Paris.
