AA agents have occasionally allowed passengers with booked travel wishing to cancel because of Coronavirus concerns to cancel without fees, but this is not AA official policy. Possible reasons:
Events, meetings, etc. you were to attend have been cancelled due to Coronavirus concerns, so your trip would be in vain.
You have documentable health conditions that your doctor feels are sufficient to cancel travel plans.

Do you think the above would mean ALL tickets purchased before March 1, 2020 to any destination would be fully refundable at this point, if those date restrictions are met? I ask because the cancellation fee waiver clause seems to have been almost hidden under the “Delay your trip” option rather than its own category. So, I was thinking, instead of “cash” (incl. credit card) refunds, maybe they are talking about a voucher-type arrangement to be applied toward future travel.

Any thoughts or alternative interpretations would be much appreciated!
No mention of refund there. I was able to get a credit toward future travel without paying the $200 fee.

Nothing Special or anything to do with Corona Virus.. Thats just Standard Award Bookings Policy Remember the rebooking and travel is 1 Year from date of Ticketing and use of last flight on the tickets. Of course often they fail to mention that.

Yes, but normally you can change the travel dates/times, but not the airports

I went ahead and canceled my booking. It'd odd. I just looked on AA's site and Etihad isn't showing up online anymore?

Nevermind. Looks like the routes are just sold out for the dates I was looking at.

I had to call the singapore line, but I finally got a supervisor. He waived the mileage redeposit fee (web special) but I lose the $5.60 security fee. I'm not heartbroken about that..

I did get the notice of an airport change from NRT to HND on my return flight via JFK. My outbound is out of BOS so isn't changed. I hope I'm able to find someone who at least is able to understand the situation so I can get the fees waived for the miles. Bummer though!

A friend of mine just canceled a trip from San Francisco to the Dominican Republic (employer prohibited travel). She bought this in early Feb., and for travel in late March. As I read the policy, she will have no change fee if she uses the credit by one year from purchase (Feb. 2021). But my understanding is that this is only a credit for her (non-transferable) and that the origin and destination must remain the same (this isn't like a gift card).

Do I have that right? Thanks.

Plan and actual action are two worlds with AA. Could AA start by just cleaning/sanitizing those Bose headset? It's disgusting
