What's the fuss? You're almost there. Just fly it, don't weenie around trying to buy it.

Thanks for all your input, but nowhere does it say miles must post prior to Dec 1st, only must be earned prior to Dec 1st

Dont listen to these guys here. Call or email AA and explain to them you earned them before the date. Also explain to them that it states earned date miles, not closing statement date. Make a strong case and they will credit you the miles. I guarantee it, its happened. You might need to talk to more then one agent to get it done. Its up to you.

I tend to feel AA is in the right, but it's always worth a call to try to get those extra miles.

Except that the miles aren't earned until posted by the credit card to AA. It is not based on when the money was spent (as the OP is trying to argue). That is not when miles are earned. So, no, the OP did not earn the miles before the closing date. Making errant claims about that doesn't make it true.

I still think that calling is a good idea. Many here (including myself) have gotten things to which we weren't actually entitled by being diligent. It may well work.

Cheers.

i called both citicard and AA in November and was told that miles would be credited to mm program. Now they refuse to do it...

Somewhat happened with my Citi AA Debit card. My billing cycle ended around the 18th of each month and I didn't get mileage credited towards the MM from my charges somewhere right around after November 18.

What question did you ask? If you asked "Will miles earned in November count, even if they post in December?" the answer would be Yes from both companies. But as has been pointed out, miles from credit card charges are considered earned as of the statement close date.

Also bear in mind that anything Citi says in this regard is irrelevant as the MM program is not theirs, and they have no idea how it would work. So, rule that out.

If the question to AA was "will miles earned/posted after Dec. 1 based on credit card spend in November count?" and they said yes, that's one thing. If you just mentioned "earned in November," that's a different question and does not reflect the current situation.

Cheers.

BIS Mileage Credit?

Does AA give credit towards million mile status for award travel?
Starwood credits award nights to yearly count so I hope it is not a dumb question.
Thanks!

No. You also don't get extra miles toward MM status for flying business or first class OR for being an elite member.

Not a dumb question, but the answer is No. (Although I do appreciate that Starwood does this :))

Cheers.

You'll find that hotel credit application has very little in common with airlines credit application.

you'll also find that hotel elite status is nowhere near as important as airline elite status. Even a kettle staying at a basic hotel like Hampton Inn would find the experience to be quite comfortable.
